Input and mono / stereo switch

The locking combo jack takes the output of a mixer, for example a monitor mix, on XLR or 1/4 inch TRS and holds the cable securely. An inner switch selects balanced mono, for a mixer's aux send or any other mono source, or unbalanced stereo, for a headphone output or other stereo source.

Volume, power and battery

The volume knob adjusts the output level and acts as the power switch: turning it fully counterclockwise, or removing the headphones from the output jack, preserves battery life. A green LED shows that the HP-1 is powered and turns red when the batteries are close to being depleted. The two AA batteries sit in a compartment opened by holding the release button and sliding the outer shell towards the headphone jack.

Applications

ART names live use on stage and project studios: the HP-1 clips to a belt or waistline for hands-free in-ear monitoring from a monitor mix, and also serves instrument monitoring in portable set-ups.
