Product overview

The FONESTAR MPX-4088 is an 8 x 8 audio matrix with DSP: 8 analogue inputs to 8 output zones plus 4 configurable digital channels for FONESTAR zone controls and microphones, in 1 U of 19 inch rack.

The MPX-4088 is a highly versatile audio matrix, perfect for installations of any size, with a multitude of configuration options, DSP signal processing and integrated solutions to common problems such as feedback. The analogue inputs take line signals or microphones with phantom 48 V, selectable in the software. Music source and volume for each zone are chosen from the PC software, the mobile apps or the optional MPX-420V, MPX-430VS and MPX-460P zone controls. Priority announcements come from the optional MPX-400MIC zone selector microphone, the MPX-440X adds more remote controls, and the optional MPX-450D expansion module adds network audio between matrices.

Key features

  • Audio matrix: 8 analogue inputs to 8 output zones
  • 4 configurable digital channels on 2 RD ports for FONESTAR controls and microphones
  • Complete DSP on inputs and outputs: priority, parametric EQ, feedback suppressor, noise gates, compressor
  • Phantom 48 V on inputs 1-8, selectable in the software
  • PC software and mobile apps; TCP/IP and RS-232 for integration
  • LCD display; indicators for power, bus occupation, signal and failure
  • 2 relays controlled from the software
  • RC-Net links up to 16 matrices: 192 inputs and 192 zones
  • Optional MPX-450D network audio expansion module
  • 1 U 19 inch rack, 3.9 kg

A complete system

Around the matrix, FONESTAR offers the MPX-400MIC microphone with zone selector and warning tones, the MPX-410ES remote audio input/output, the MPX-420V zone control, the MPX-430VS zone control with line outputs, the MPX-460P touch screen control, the MPX-440X RD port extender and the MPX-450D network audio module.

Zones for every source

Each matrix has 8 analogue output zones, extendable to 12 with two MPX-410ES or MPX-430VS units. Each zone output feeds a power amplifier or a mixer amplifier, for 100 V line or 4-8 Ω loudspeakers, and its source and volume can be chosen from the zone controls or the software.

Processing that solves problems

Parametric equalisation, feedback suppression, noise gates, compression, gain control and level priority are set per input and output in the PC software, so microphones stay clear and music stays at the right level.

Scales with the building

RC-Net links matrices in a chain up to 16 units. MPX-450D modules let several matrices share channels with redundant primary and secondary network ports.

FONESTAR MPX-4088: frequently asked questions

How many zones can the MPX-4088 control?

One matrix gives 8 analogue output zones, extendable to 12 with two MPX-410ES or MPX-430VS units; up to 16 matrices can be linked for 192 zones.

Which remote controls can be used?

FONESTAR MPX-420V and MPX-430VS zone controls and the MPX-460P touch screen control, connected to the RD ports with Cat 5e cable or higher.

Can microphones be connected directly?

Yes. Inputs 1-8 take microphones or line signals, with phantom 48 V selectable in the software, and the MPX-400MIC zone selector microphone connects to an RD port.

How is it configured?

With the PC control software over the LAN port; daily control is possible from the mobile apps or the zone controls, and TCP/IP and RS-232 allow integration with other systems.

Where can I buy the FONESTAR MPX-4088 in India?

The FONESTAR MPX-4088 is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
