Product overview

The GRACE DESIGN SB-SUR is a Spacebar modular surround tree for five microphones: a front triplet and a rear pair, with every spacing set on engraved centimetre scales and every angle of incidence in 5 degree steps.

The SB-SUR system allows for mounting of five microphones. In its standard configuration three microphones are mounted as a front triplet and two as a rear pair. The front left and right microphone holder spacing can be adjusted from 6 cm to 102 cm on the E420 105 cm bar and from 6 cm to 50 cm on the E407 53 cm bar. Like every Spacebar component it is precision fabricated from machined aluminium, brass and stainless steel.

  • Angle of incidence adjustable in 5 degree increments, +90 to -90 degrees
  • Front left-right spacing 6-102 cm (E420 bar) or 6-50 cm (E407 bar)
  • Heavy duty stand mount adapter for 5/8" (16 mm) pin or 1-1/8" junior socket stands
  • Can be hung from a ceiling with the SB-HB hanging bar (1 m line version)
  • Microphone threads: standard 5/8-27 or BSW 3/8-16
  • Machined aluminium, brass and stainless steel

Every spacing and angle on a scale

Each mic holder is positioned with its sight hole on the centimetre indicator circles engraved on the bars, and the SB-TJ90 tube joiners also have sight holes for centring the cross bars and measuring between cross bars and mic holders. The adjustable holders carry protractor markings from +90 to -90 degrees in 5 degree steps.

Built for a large array

The surround tree is supplied with the SB-SMA-HD heavy duty stand mount adapter, much stronger than a mount with microphone threads, for stands with a 5/8" (16 mm) pin or a 1-1/8" junior socket. For hanging installations, the SB-HB hanging bar in its 1 m line version threads into the stand mount adapter and its guide line yoke aims the array.

Modular components

Two E420 105 cm tubes, an E407 53 cm tube, two SB-TJ90 90 degree tube joiners, four SB-AMH and one SB-AMHEX adjustable mic holders form the tree. The extended SB-AMHEX keeps microphones on perpendicular bars at matching heights.

In the box

  • 2 x E420 105 cm tube (7/8" OD)
  • 1 x E407 53 cm tube (7/8" OD)
  • 4 x SB-AMH adjustable mic holder
  • 1 x SB-AMHEX adjustable mic holder, extended
  • 2 x SB-TJ90 90 degree tube joiner
  • 6 x E414 end plug
  • 6 x H402 8-32 x 1/4" flat head screw
  • 1 x SB-SMA-HD heavy duty stand mount adapter
