Product overview

The MERGING Pyramix 16 PRO is MERGING's digital audio workstation software, version 16. Pyramix PRO is the editing workhorse of Pyramix 16: source-destination editing, DDP and CD mastering, loudness metering and the VS3 plugin suite, with up to 192 hardware I/O at 48 kHz.

Pyramix 16 is focused on the music and built for production: a digital audio workstation used by professional studios and engineers worldwide for music production, mastering, TV and film post-production. It handles sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz, or DSD256 1-bit processing and DXD, for the most pristine audio quality, and works with ASIO sound cards or MERGING's low-latency MassCore audio engine for up to 384 I/O. In combination with MERGING's networked audio interfaces, Pyramix offers an end-to-end solution for producing music digitally in ultra-high resolution.

Key features

  • Ultra-high resolution support: 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz, DXD and DSD256
  • Multiple simultaneous multitrack recorders, with recording to two locations at once
  • Edit while recording: pre-edit and export rough cuts on the fly
  • 'Take logger' for direct comments and ratings in the media
  • Built-in phase alignment and spatial control
  • Source-destination editing
  • Advanced mastering workflows: simultaneous format and codec exports with metadata
  • Custom speaker sets with support for object-based workflows
  • Strips and busses up to 22.2, Ambisonics and object-based mixing
  • VST2 and VST3 plugin formats supported (no plugins included)
  • Pyramix Virtual Studio core plugins (VS3), MERGING's low-latency platform

Recording

An intuitive 'take logger' lets you note comments and ratings directly within the media through media markers. Recording to two locations at once (for example a local and an external drive) gives immediate redundancy and removes the need for backups once recording is complete, several multitrack recorders can run simultaneously, and editing while recording allows pre-editing and exporting rough cuts on the fly.

Editing

Real-time editing during playback, a global sound effects library manager, clips grouped into library items for versioning or re-use in other projects, and an advanced real-time crossfade editor including asymmetric crossfades for the best-sounding transitions. Source-destination editing manages complex multitrack recordings by aligning all takes horizontally or vertically and building the new master by editing the good parts together in an intuitive, musical way: each recording source appears as a single track, simplifying projects of up to 128 tracks.

Mixing

Strips and busses support immersive standards up to 22.2, with Ambisonics and object-based workflows. Build a custom bus for immersive installations with custom speaker positions (x, y, z in metres) and use the Pyramix or Ovation renderer for monitoring and playback. Full automation (dynamic and snapshots) with automation versioning, and a comprehensive monitoring section with multiple speaker sets, external inputs and talkbacks.

Mastering

Pristine audio quality in 32-bit floating point, a reference channel strip and advanced album publishing for multiple exports in any format with metadata handling and authoring; DDP and CD Red Book authoring, loudness metering and processing.
