Product overview
The NEUMANN KK 104 S is a premium quality cardioid condenser capsule head for compatible handheld wireless transmitters: true Neumann sound with the freedom of wireless operation.
Its precision manufactured condenser capsule combines Neumann sound with all the virtues of a rugged stage microphone: excellent pop protection, enormous SPL capability of up to 148 dB and high feedback resistance. Based on Neumann's KMS series of wired stage microphones, the KK 104 S shares their basic design and essential acoustic properties and is designed for vocals and speech on stage and in other feedback-prone environments.
| Tight, frequency‑independent pattern | Cardioid |
| Maximum SPL for 0.5 % THD | 148 dB |
| Sensitivity at 1 kHz | 1.7 mV/Pa |

Key features
- Studio grade Neumann condenser capsule for wireless systems
- Tight cardioid pattern without off-axis coloration
- Feedback resistant, high rejection of rearward sound (180°)
- Unaffected by extreme sound pressure levels: up to 148 dB
- Built-in pop protection: hardened steel headgrille with internal pop screen
- Low handling noise; fixed low cut compensates for the proximity effect
- Easy cleaning: the interior assembly is removable
- Two finishes: nickel and black (bk)
Studio quality for wireless systems
The KK 104 S brings studio sound quality to the stage for the most demanding live applications. It is equipped with a true condenser capsule offering the clarity that made Neumann studio microphones famous, while it possesses the ruggedness required for stage use. Its smooth frequency response and airy top end give effortless intelligibility without the usual EQ boosts, which further improves feedback resistance.
Made for close miking
The KK 104 S is optimised for close miking: a fixed low cut compensates for the proximity effect and ensures clear bass, even if the singer's lips touch the microphone. Its tight, frequency-independent cardioid pattern ensures high gain before feedback, and it is suited for in-ear monitoring as well as conventional monitoring systems.
Pop protection
The headgrille is made of hardened steel and features a highly effective internal pop screen which also keeps moisture away from the capsule. Thanks to careful Neumann engineering, these acoustic filters do not cause sibilance problems. On the KK 104 S the foam insert of the headgrille can be removed separately for cleaning.
Easy cleaning
The interior assembly can be removed completely to clean the headgrille: loosen the 3 axial hexagonal socket screws with the Allen wrench provided (only 2 rotations each), rotate the interior assembly 30° counterclockwise and remove it. Wash the headgrille in soap solution, rinse it in clean water and dry it, then reassemble in reverse order.
