Product overview
The NEUMANN MCM 114 set high strings is a complete set for using the NEUMANN Miniature Clip Mic MCM system on the body of a violin, viola, mandolin or similar instrument: true Neumann sound for close miking acoustic instruments in live applications.
The set contains the KK 14 cardioid capsule head, SH 100 gooseneck, KC 1 cable brace, AC 31 cable, MCM 100 output stage, WS 110 windscreen and the MC 1 clip high strings, delivered in a handy soft case. The MCM System raises the bar of electret capsules and redefines the standard in natural sound, practicality, reliable mounting and longevity; its modular construction allows for easy replacements and guarantees a superior low cost of ownership.
| Maximum SPL for THD < 0.5 % | 153 dB SPL |
| Equivalent noise level | 23 dB‑A |
| Sensitivity at 1 kHz | 3.6 mV/Pa |
| Frequency range | 20 Hz - 20 kHz |

The capsule: 8 parts of perfection
The newly developed MCM capsules bring a new level of tonal balance, more body, especially in the bass and mid-range, and transparency in the treble. Each of the capsule's eight key components is designed for optimal performance, manufactured independently and assembled by hand. Strict quality control guarantees an unprecedented level of tonal consistency: each capsule sounds exactly the same and delivers the neutral Neumann-style sound, saving time during setup and EQ tuning, especially when running multiple microphones.
Mounting: gentle on surfaces, reliable for engineers
The MC 1 holds on the body of a violin, viola, mandolin or similar instrument (clip aperture 32 mm - 50 mm, 16 g). Its self-adjusting spring mechanism and rubber coating ensure reliable attachment without damaging the instrument. The MCM mounting mechanics are gentle on even the most sensitive surfaces and make mounting a matter of seconds, requiring only one hand for most instruments, and the gooseneck can be precisely aligned and locked to the clip in 45-degree increments.
Wired and wireless
For wired operation the MCM 100 output stage connects the AC 31 cable to an XLR microphone input with 48 V phantom power. The MCM system also offers interchangeable cable options for wireless bodypack transmitters, so no adapter is needed.
