Product overview
The NEUMANN U 67 Set brings back Neumann's legendary U 67 tube microphone, built to the original specifications, complete with the NU 67 V power supply, connection cable, Z 48 shock mount and a vintage case.
Introduced in 1960, the U 67 was the quintessential studio workhorse throughout the formative years of modern music, and its inimitably smooth sound is in high demand to this day. Sonically, the reissue is identical to the U 67 made from 1960 to 1971: the same K 67 capsule and the original circuitry with the EF 86 pentode and the BV 12 output transformer, meticulously reproduced from original documentation. Three polar patterns, low cut and pad make it a universal studio microphone, handmade and hand soldered in Germany.
| Pentode tube, BV 12 transformer | EF 86 |
| Polar patterns: omni, cardioid, figure‑8 | 3 |
| Max. SPL with pre‑attenuation | 124 dB |
| Self‑noise (cardioid) | 17 dB‑A |

Neumann engineering at its best
The U 67 was the first microphone with the famous K 67 capsule, which has become associated with the Neumann sound and continues in its successor, the U 87 A. Its masterful tube circuit uses a pre-emphasis / de-emphasis scheme to minimise tube hiss. It was also the first microphone to address close miking: the switchable low cut compensates for the proximity effect, and with the pre-attenuation it handles up to 124 dB without distortion.
Return of a legend
Introduced as the successor to the eminent Neumann U 47, the U 67 was quickly adopted as the new studio standard. To this day many top engineers would choose it as their desert island microphone for its versatility and sound quality. The cone-shaped body and tapered headgrille have become iconic for the Neumann brand.
NU 67 V power supply
The included NU 67 V is a classical power supply with a mains transformer that switches automatically between 100-120 V and 220-240 V AC and draws no current when off. It was redesigned to meet today's safety requirements and to deliver the slightly higher filament current of newer premium-grade tubes, and it is fully compatible with older U 67 microphones. The audio signal is available at its balanced XLR 3 output.
Applications
The U 67 is a universal studio microphone. Its smooth top end with a subtle tube shimmer makes it an outstanding vocal microphone, and its essentially linear response in omni, cardioid and figure-8 makes it very versatile for strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, drums, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar and upright bass.

NEUMANN U 67 Set: frequently asked questions
How is the U 67 powered?
By the included NU 67 V power supply via the 7-pin UC 5 cable. The audio signal comes from the XLR 3 output of the NU 67 V. External phantom power at the input does not affect the U 67.
Is the reissue the same as the original U 67?
Sonically it is identical to the U 67 made from 1960 to 1971: the same capsule and electronic design, the EF 86 tube and the BV 12 transformer reproduced to the original specifications.
How long is the warm-up time?
The tube warm-up time is approx. 1 minute; within a few minutes at the latest the tube reaches its stable operating condition and lowest noise.
Can the NU 67 V power an older U 67?
Yes. The NU 67 V is suitable for powering U 67 microphones of any vintage.
Where can I buy the NEUMANN U 67 Set in India?
