Product overview
The TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Cardioid Stereo Set is a matched set of two M60 FET small-diaphragm condenser microphones with TK60 cardioid capsules, two cables, two shock mounts and windscreens, packed in one ZC62 dual zipper case.
TELEFUNKEN's M60 FET is a reinterpretation of the classic phantom-powered pencil microphone, with exceptional transient response and SPL handling. As a matched cardioid pair it is ready for XY, near-coincident and spaced-pair recording of drum overheads, acoustic guitar, piano, choirs and ensembles, in the studio and on stage. Each microphone is hand assembled in TELEFUNKEN's US facility using premium components and an ultra-clean, true class-A discrete circuit with an American-made transformer.

| Self‑noise (amplifier) | 5 dBA |
| Maximum SPL (1% THD) | > 135 dB SPL |
| Phantom powered, no external supply | +48V |

A matched cardioid pair
TELEFUNKEN describes this set as a matched set of M60 FET microphones with TK60 cardioid capsules. Each TK6x capsule has an edge-terminated 15 mm diameter, 6-micron gold-sputtered membrane and threads on and off the amplifier body in seconds. Every capsule is held to a strict ±1 dB sensitivity tolerance and is individually tested and matched by frequency response in TELEFUNKEN's American facility. The TK60 is flat from 150 Hz to 7 kHz with a presence peak at 8 kHz, and TELEFUNKEN names it ideal for drum overheads, acoustic guitar and other acoustic instruments.
Stereo techniques with the TK60
TELEFUNKEN's SDC Series manual recommends three stereo configurations for TK60 capsules. XY: 90 degrees apart with the capsule centres directly over each other, as close as possible without touching, for the most direct and phase-coherent sound. Near-coincident: 110 degrees apart with the capsules 17 cm apart, mimicking the placement of the human ears. Spaced pair: parallel microphones, typically 60 cm apart and up to 3 m depending on the distance from the source, the room and the stereo width you want.
TELEFUNKEN's own tips: check for phase cancellation; cardioid capsules lose low end with distance while omnidirectional capsules retain it; omnidirectional capsules pick up more ambient sound, so cardioid and hypercardioid capsules are recommended for less than ideal recording environments.
Fast, detailed and quiet
With 5 dBA self-noise, an 89 dBA signal-to-noise ratio and more than 135 dB SPL handling, the M60 FET amplifier captures everything from delicate fingerpicking to hi-hats and ride cymbals with speed and detail. Its ultra-clean, true class-A discrete circuit and American-made TELEFUNKEN T61CT transformer give a punchy tone with extended high-frequency clarity and low-frequency definition, and less than 0.01% THD.
Phantom powered, ready to travel
The M60 runs on standard +48V phantom power from any mixer, console, preamp or audio interface, so no external power supply is needed on stage or in the studio. TELEFUNKEN advises muting the channel when engaging phantom power, as the microphone can produce a loud pop as it turns on, and allowing 15 seconds for it to power up. The ZC62 dual zipper case has compartments for two microphones, two cables, two elastic mounts and six capsule containers, leaving room for additional capsules. TK61 omnidirectional and TK62 hypercardioid capsules thread onto the same bodies whenever a session calls for them.
Built in the USA, built to grow
Every M60 is assembled and tested in TELEFUNKEN's American facility, together with the TK6x capsules it accepts. The thread-on design lets the body stay in its shock mount while the capsule changes, and spare capsules, the TK6X three-capsule set and matched capsule pairs are offered separately, so one microphone can grow into a full pattern collection or a matched stereo setup over time. The supplied M 761 elastic shock mount and WS20 foam windscreen are made for 20 mm microphone bodies.

TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Cardioid Stereo Set: frequently asked questions
Are the two microphones matched?
Yes. TELEFUNKEN supplies the Cardioid Stereo Set as a matched set of M60 FET microphones, and every TK6x capsule is individually tested and matched by frequency response.
Does the set need phantom power?
Yes. Each microphone needs +48V phantom power from its preamp channel. Allow 15 seconds to power up.
Which stereo techniques suit this set?
TELEFUNKEN recommends XY, near-coincident (110 degrees, 17 cm) and spaced-pair setups for TK60 capsules. Always check for phase cancellation.
Can I add omni or hypercardioid capsules?
Yes. TK61 and TK62 capsules, including matched capsule pairs, thread straight onto both microphones, and the ZC62 has six capsule containers.
Is a single M60 FET available?
Yes, the TELEFUNKEN M60 FET (single microphone system) is listed as a separate product at Shivansh Electronics.
Where can I buy the TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Cardioid Stereo Set in India?
The TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Cardioid Stereo Set is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
