Product overview
The TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Master Capsule Set is a single M60 FET small-diaphragm condenser microphone supplied with all three thread-on capsules: TK60 cardioid, TK61 omnidirectional and TK62 hypercardioid.
TELEFUNKEN's M60 FET is a reinterpretation of the classic phantom-powered pencil microphone, with exceptional transient response and SPL handling, impressive clarity and subtle tonality on acoustic and percussive instruments in the studio and on stage. With the full capsule set one microphone is an M60 cardioid, an M61 omni and an M62 hypercardioid, changing pattern on the move in seconds. It is hand assembled in TELEFUNKEN's US facility using premium components and an ultra-clean, true class-A discrete circuit with an American-made transformer.
| TK60, TK61 and TK62 included | 3 capsules |
| Self‑noise (amplifier) | 5 dBA |
| Maximum SPL (1% THD) | > 135 dB SPL |
| Frequency range, ±3 dB | 20 Hz - 20 kHz |
Key features
- Three polar patterns in one system: cardioid, omnidirectional and hypercardioid
- Punchy tone with extended high-frequency clarity and low-frequency definition
- Ultra-fast transient response and extended frequency range
- High-headroom, low-noise FET amplifier: true class-A discrete circuit, +48V phantom powered
- TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik T61CT American-made transformer
- Complete system with 5-metre right-angle XLR cable, shock mount, windscreen and ZC61 case
- Designed and hand assembled in the USA
Every capsule in one case
Each TK6x capsule has an edge-terminated 15 mm diameter, 6-micron gold-sputtered membrane and threads on and off the amplifier body in seconds. Every capsule is held to a strict ±1 dB sensitivity tolerance and is individually tested and matched by frequency response in TELEFUNKEN's American facility. The Master Capsule Set includes one of each:
- TK60 cardioid: flat from 150 Hz to 7 kHz with a presence peak at 8 kHz; ideal for drum overheads, acoustic guitar and other acoustic instruments
- TK61 omnidirectional: flat from 20 Hz to 5 kHz with a presence peak at 8 kHz; use with SD40 diffuse-field spheres to make the upper midrange more directional
- TK62 hypercardioid: flat from 150 Hz to 3 kHz with a dip at 6 kHz and a presence peak at 8 kHz; excellent for cymbals, percussion and as a stereo pair for live performance recording
Choosing a capsule
Use the TK60 cardioid as the everyday choice for acoustic guitar, overheads and acoustic instruments. Choose the TK61 omnidirectional for rooms, ensembles and distant pickup: TELEFUNKEN notes that omni capsules retain low end with distance but pick up more of the surroundings. Fit the TK62 hypercardioid for hi-hat, ride, percussion and live sound, and wherever the room is less than ideal. Mute the channel and switch off phantom power before changing capsules.
Fast, detailed and quiet
With 5 dBA self-noise, an 89 dBA signal-to-noise ratio and more than 135 dB SPL handling, the M60 FET amplifier captures everything from delicate fingerpicking to hi-hats and ride cymbals with speed and detail. Its ultra-clean, true class-A discrete circuit and American-made TELEFUNKEN T61CT transformer give a punchy tone with extended high-frequency clarity and low-frequency definition, and less than 0.01% THD.
Phantom powered, ready for stage and studio
The M60 runs on standard +48V phantom power from any mixer, console, preamp or audio interface, so no external power supply is needed on stage or in the studio. TELEFUNKEN advises muting the channel when engaging phantom power, as the microphone can produce a loud pop as it turns on, and allowing 15 seconds for it to power up. The ZC61 zipper case has compartments for one microphone, one cable, one elastic mount and three capsule containers. The same TK6x capsules also fit the TELEFUNKEN ELA M 260 tube microphone.
Built in the USA, built to grow
Every M60 is assembled and tested in TELEFUNKEN's American facility, together with the TK6x capsules it accepts. The thread-on design lets the body stay in its shock mount while the capsule changes, and spare capsules, the TK6X three-capsule set and matched capsule pairs are offered separately, so one microphone can grow into a full pattern collection or a matched stereo setup over time. The supplied M 761 elastic shock mount and WS20 foam windscreen are made for 20 mm microphone bodies.

TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Master Capsule Set: frequently asked questions
How is this different from the standard M60 FET?
The standard M60 FET includes the TK60 cardioid capsule only. The Master Capsule Set adds the TK61 omnidirectional and TK62 hypercardioid capsules, with the same cable, mount, windscreen and ZC61 case.
Does it need phantom power?
Yes. It needs +48V phantom power, standard on most mixers, consoles and preamps. Allow 15 seconds for it to power up.
Which capsule should I use for cymbals?
TELEFUNKEN names the TK62 hypercardioid excellent for cymbals and percussion. Use the TK60 for overheads and acoustic guitar, and the TK61 for rooms and ensembles.
Will the capsules fit other TELEFUNKEN microphones?
Yes. The TK6x capsules fit both the M60 FET and the ELA M 260 tube microphone.
Is a stereo set available?
Yes, the TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Master Capsule Stereo Set is listed as a separate product at Shivansh Electronics.
Where can I buy the TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Master Capsule Set in India?
The TELEFUNKEN M60 FET Master Capsule Set is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
