Product overview
The XVIVE U35C Complete Condenser System is a 5.8 GHz True Diversity, plug-and-play wireless system for condenser microphones, with 48 V or 12 V phantom power supplied by the transmitter.
The U35C broadcasts on the 5.8 GHz band, avoiding interference from common 2.4 GHz devices. The transmitter plugs onto the condenser microphone, or connects to an active DI box, and powers it; the receiver plugs into a mixer, sound interface, preamp, XLR cable or snake and scans automatically for the best of the 6 channels. Audio is 24-bit / 48 kHz with a 20 Hz - 20 kHz (-3 dB) frequency response, 110 dB signal-to-noise ratio, 0.2 % total harmonic distortion and 5 ms latency, with a range of up to 30.5 m (100 ft) in line of sight.
| Phantom power | 48 V / 12 V |
| True Diversity wireless | 5.8 GHz |
| Operating range (line of sight) | 30.5 m |
| Latency | 5 ms |
Key features
- 5.8 GHz True Diversity wireless system for condenser microphones
- 48 V or 12 V phantom power from the transmitter; also for active DI boxes
- Automatic scanning for the best signal out of 6 channels
- 24-bit / 48 kHz audio, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 110 dB signal-to-noise ratio
- Range up to 30.5 m (100 ft) and less than 5 ms latency
- Up to 6 sets in one area; one transmitter can feed two or more receivers
- Phantom protection: the receiver blocks phantom power from the mixer if it is turned on by accident
- 3-6 hours of battery life, depending on the microphone's phantom power current draw
The U35C transmitter
The transmitter has a balanced XLR (female) condenser microphone input with a circumferential ground spring and a Mic Lock. Its controls are a 48 V / 12 V phantom power switch, a power switch, a mute switch, a channel switch for channels 1-6 with a channel LED, a power status LED and a USB charging port. It measures 31 x 29 x 98 mm and weighs 108 g. 48 V mode gives optimal performance for most condenser microphones, with about 3 hours of battery life; 12 V mode can extend it up to 7 hours, but the microphone's performance may be affected.
The receiver
The receiver has a balanced XLR (male) output, a power switch, a channel switch for channels 1-6 with a channel LED, an RF status LED, a power status LED and a USB charging port. Holding the channel button for 3 seconds starts the channel scan. A protection circuit blocks phantom power from the mixer or interface. It measures 81 x 31 x 29 mm and weighs 92 g.
Condenser microphones and active DI boxes
The U35C is for XLR balanced condenser microphones and active DI boxes. XVIVE warns never to plug single-ended (unbalanced) or ribbon microphones into the U35C, as they can be permanently damaged if phantom power is applied to them; for dynamic microphones XVIVE makes the U35.
Applications
Singers, presenters and actors can move freely with their condenser microphone. The U35C also serves condenser microphones on harmonicas, violins, trumpets, saxophones and accordions, active DI boxes, and DSLR cameras through an adapter between the XLR receiver and the camera's (usually 3.5 mm) audio input. An XLR cable (not included) can extend the receiver to inputs that sit close together.

FAQs
Should I use 48 V or 12 V on the XVIVE U35C?
Check the phantom power requirement of your condenser microphone. XVIVE states that 48 V gives optimal performance for most condenser microphones with about 3 hours of battery life, while 12 V can extend battery life up to 7 hours but may affect the microphone's performance.
Can I use a dynamic or ribbon microphone with the U35C?
The U35C is for XLR balanced condenser microphones and active DI boxes. XVIVE warns that unbalanced or ribbon microphones can be permanently damaged by phantom power; for dynamic microphones XVIVE makes the U35.
What if phantom power is switched on at the mixer?
The receiver has a protection circuit that blocks phantom power from the mixer or interface if it is turned on by accident.
