Product overview
The ART HVA1 is a two-channel Class D amplifier for 70 V and 100 V installations that delivers 135 watts per channel.
Each channel has an independent level control and status LEDs for signal activity, clipping and thermal protection, and its operation mode (70 V or 100 V line) is selected with rear DIP switches. With a robust feature set in a 1U rackmount enclosure, the HVA1 offers a built-in limiter, an internal fan and Euroblock connectors for audio, status and control signals: the outputs can be disabled remotely, a priority input lets a test or alarm signal override the programme on all outputs, and a failure status output reports when the unit is disabled or in protect mode.
| 70 V / 100 V line, all channels driven | 2 x 135 W |
| Switchable per channel | 70 V / 100 V |
| Frequency response (-3 dB) | 120 Hz - 17 kHz |
| 1U rackmount | 4.7 kg |
Key features
- 2-channel Class D power amplifier (switching power)
- Switchable 70 V / 100 V operation
- 135 W per channel
- Euroblock connectors for input, output, status and control
- Built-in limiter
- Short circuit, thermal and power on / off muting protection
- Remote disable, priority test / alarm input and failure status output
- Front mounted level controls and Signal, Clip, Protect and Power LEDs
- 1U rackmount, 19 inch
Front panel
The front panel carries the power switch, a level control for each channel and the indicators: the Signal LED (green) shows signal present in the channel, the Clip LED (red) shows that the input signal is too high and the Protection LED turns red in thermal protection, when the speaker load is disconnected from the amplifier outputs until the amplifier is back at a safe temperature. The Power / Protect LED in the level control is green in normal operation and red in protect mode. Air is drawn in through the front grilles for the variable-speed internal fan and exhausted through the rear vents.
Rear panel and control pins
The Euroblock input takes balanced or unbalanced signals for CH A and CH B, and the speaker outputs are also on Euroblock connectors. The control pins of the input block are Fail (failure status output: normally +5 V, 0 V if the unit is disabled or in protect mode), DIS (grounding it disables the amplifier and lights all protection lights), PRI (grounding it gives the Test input priority; the level knobs then turn from green to red), Test (the test / alarm signal that overrides all inputs and appears on all outputs when priority is active) and GND. The mains input with its fuse holder sits on the right.
Applications
ART's manual shows the HVA1 driving two zones of 100 V line loudspeakers connected in parallel, with a separate audio source for each zone or the same audio on both, plus a priority control and a test / alarm source wired to the control pins.
In the box
- HVA1 power amplifier
- Power cord (determined by the country of operation, per the owner's manual)
ART HVA1: frequently asked questions
Can the HVA1 run 70 V and 100 V lines?
Yes. The operation mode (70 V or 100 V) is selected for each channel with the rear DIP switches.
How much power does it deliver?
135 W per channel, on 70 V or 100 V lines, with all channels driven.
Can a paging or alarm signal override the music?
Yes. When the PRI pin is grounded, the signal on the Test input has priority, overrides all inputs and is present on all outputs.
What mains voltage does it need?
ART's manual states AC 110-240 V, 50/60 Hz.
Where can I buy the ART HVA1 in India?
The ART HVA1 is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
Workflow 1: Two-zone 100 V background music
Shops, restaurants and offices with two loudspeaker zones.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Audio source 1 | CH A input (Euroblock) |
| Audio source 2 | CH B input (Euroblock) |
| CH A / CH B speaker outputs | 100 V line loudspeakers of zone 1 / zone 2, in parallel |
Setup
- Set the DIP switches of both channels to 100 V.
- Wire the loudspeakers of each zone in parallel to its output.
- Set each zone's level with the front controls.
Tip: The same source can also feed both zones.
Workflow 2: 70 V line installation
Installations designed for 70 V loudspeaker lines.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Mixer or preamplifier | HVA1 Euroblock inputs |
| HVA1 outputs | 70 V line loudspeakers |
Setup
- Set the operation mode DIP switches to 70 V.
- Connect the loudspeaker lines to the Euroblock outputs.
Tip: The mode is selected for each channel, so one channel can run 70 V and the other 100 V.
Workflow 3: Alarm or test signal with priority
Systems where an alarm or announcement must override the programme.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Test / alarm source | Test pin |
| Priority contact | PRI and GND pins |
Setup
- Wire the alarm signal to the Test pin.
- Ground the PRI pin through the priority contact when the alarm must play.
Tip: With priority active, the level knobs turn from green to red.
Workflow 4: Remote disable
Installations with a central control system.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Control contact | DIS and GND pins |
Setup
- Ground the DIS pin to disable the amplifier.
- Disable the unit or power it down before connecting or disconnecting speaker loads.
Tip: All protection lights come on while the amplifier is disabled.
Workflow 5: Failure monitoring
Integrators who need a status signal from the amplifier.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Fail pin | Monitoring input of the control system |
Setup
- Read the Fail output: normally +5 V.
- Treat 0 V as unit disabled or in protect mode.
Tip: The Fail output is part of the Euroblock input connector.
Workflow 6: Rack installation
Installers mounting the HVA1 in a 19 inch rack.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| HVA1 | 1U rack space |
Setup
- Keep the front grilles and rear exhaust vents clear.
- Use the mains voltage setting that matches the supply (AC 110-240 V, 50/60 Hz per ART).
Tip: Air flows in through the front, through the heat sink and out of the rear vents.
