Product overview
The ART Tube MP Studio V3 is a tube mic preamp and instrument DI with all the features of the original Tube MP plus 16 onboard voicing presets, Output Protection Limiting and an analog VU meter.
V3 stands for Variable Valve Voicing: sixteen presets in three overlapping groups, Neutral, Warm and OPL. Each has a precisely voiced EQ curve, the Warm presets add tube saturation and the OPL presets engage Output Protection Limiting for dynamic control of loud signals and big transients. Each preset has a suggested application, and a Flat preset gives the classic sound of the original Tube MP. Like the original, the Studio V3 has XLR and 1/4 inch connections with variable gain and switchable boost, phantom power and phase reversal: a fast, flexible preamp designed for maximum tone with minimum tweaking.
| V3 voicing presets | 16 |
| Input gain | 60 dB |
| Output Protection Limiting | OPL |
| Hand selected tube | 12AX7A |

The V3 presets
Neutral settings (Flat, Vocal, Guitar Amplifier, Bass Guitar) give uncoloured, natural reproduction. Warm settings (Electronic Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Vocal Microphone, Valve) warm the signal. Warm settings with OPL (Multiple Applications, Vocal, Acoustic Guitar, Piano) and Neutral settings with OPL (Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Percussion, Limit) suit high sound pressure levels, close miking and spiky transients.
Metering and limiting
The Tube Warmth VU meter shows the level at the output of the tube section: the black region (-20 to -3 dB) gives a cleaner sound, the red region more audible warmth. The bi-colour LED lights green with power, and red when the signal is about to clip or, with OPL engaged, when peaks exceed the limiter's threshold and the limiter reduces gain to prevent output clipping.
Compatible with
Microphones (with +48 V phantom power when needed), instruments, acoustic and piezo pickups, and line level sources; outputs to consoles, amplifiers, processors, recorders and audio interfaces.
In the box
- Tube MP Studio V3 tube preamp
- Universal 12 V DC power adaptor with four plug clips (stated in the owner's manual)
