Product overview

The GENELEC 1032C Rack Amplifier Version is a factory pre-installed 1032C bundle: the amplifier is installed in a rack mount chassis and the loudspeaker receives a separate blank back plate with the connectors for the amplifier.

It brings the 1032C SAM studio monitor, the high-SPL nearfield model with the soffit-mountable styling of the 1000 series, to installations where the electronics live in an equipment rack. Interconnecting cables are not included. The monitor performance and GLM calibration are those of the 1032C.

Key features

  • Factory pre-installed: amplifier in a rack mount chassis, loudspeaker with a blank back plate and amplifier connectors
  • Two-way active design: 250 mm bass driver and 25 mm metal dome tweeter, both magnetically shielded
  • Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) for flat on and off-axis response
  • 250 W + 150 W Class D amplifiers, active crossover at 1.8 kHz
  • Analogue XLR input plus AES/EBU digital input and thru, 32-192 kHz
  • GLM network with AutoCal room calibration and stored settings

The 1032C with its electronics in the rack

With the amplifier in a rack mount chassis, the loudspeaker carries only a blank back plate with the amplifier connectors. This suits soffit and in-wall installations where the electronics are kept with the rest of the equipment.

Calibrated for your room

GLM software and AutoCal measure the listening position, compensate room influences and align level and delay. Settings can be stored, so a computer is not needed day to day.

In the box

  • 1 x GENELEC 1032C loudspeaker with a separate blank back plate and the connectors for the amplifier
  • 1 x GENELEC 1032C amplifier installed in a rack mount chassis (factory pre-installed)

Interconnecting cables between the amplifier and the loudspeaker are not included. Calibration requires GLM software and a 9320A SAM Reference Controller or GLM Calibration Kit (sold separately).

GENELEC 1032C Rack Amplifier Version: frequently asked questions

How is it different from the standard 1032C?

It is factory pre-installed with the amplifier in a rack mount chassis; the loudspeaker has a separate blank back plate with the connectors for the amplifier.

Are the interconnecting cables included?

No. Interconnecting cables between the amplifier and the loudspeaker are not included.

Does it still work with GLM?

Yes. It is a 1032C SAM monitor with the GLM network, AutoCal calibration and AES/EBU input.

Where can I buy the GENELEC 1032C Rack Amplifier Version in India?

The GENELEC 1032C Rack Amplifier Version is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.

Workflow 1: Nearfield mixing on stands

Set up a pair as a neutral, high-SPL reference behind the console.

Connections

ConnectTo
Monitor controller or interface outputsANALOG IN (XLR)
MainsMAINS INPUT, earthed outlet

Setup

  1. Place the monitors symmetrically, acoustic axes aimed at the listening position.
  2. Set STORED to OFF and choose tone controls for the position (e.g. bass tilt -2 dB in a damped room).
  3. Set the sensitivity control to match the source level.
  4. Switch on and check the green front light.

Tip: Stands behind and above the console usually sound better than a meter bridge.

Workflow 2: Calibrating a stereo pair with GLM

Let GLM measure the room and tune each 1032C for the listening position.

Connections

ConnectTo
Each monitorGLM NETWORK (RJ45), daisy‑chained
GLM adapterLast monitor's GLM NETWORK port and computer USB
Measurement microphoneGLM adapter microphone input

Setup

  1. Daisy-chain the monitors with CAT5 (RJ45) cables and connect the last one to the GLM adapter.
  2. Connect the adapter to the computer by USB and place the microphone at ear height at the listening position, pointing up.
  3. Install GLM from genelec.com and run the AutoCal measurement.
  4. Store the settings in the monitors so they work without a computer.

Tip: With STORED set to ON, the monitor recalls the GLM settings without a computer.

Workflow 3: AES/EBU digital monitoring

Feed the monitors directly from a digital console or converter.

Connections

ConnectTo
AES/EBU sourceDIGITAL IN AES/EBU (XLR, 110 Ω)
Next monitorDIGITAL THRU AES/EBU

Setup

  1. Connect the AES/EBU output to the first monitor's DIGITAL IN.
  2. Daisy-chain to up to four monitors through DIGITAL THRU.
  3. Set the DIGITAL A/B switches so each monitor plays its channel.
  4. The digital input is selected automatically when a valid signal is present.

Tip: -30 dBFS produces 100 dB SPL at 1 m; lower the monitor level to use more digital resolution.

Workflow 4: Flush mounting with the amplifier in the rack

Build the loudspeaker into the wall and keep the electronics in the equipment rack.

Connections

ConnectTo
LoudspeakerWall opening; blank back plate with amplifier connectors
Rack amplifierEquipment rack
Interconnecting cables (not included)Amplifier to loudspeaker connectors

Setup

  1. Mount the amplifier chassis in the rack.
  2. Install the loudspeaker with its acoustic axis aimed at the listening position.
  3. Connect amplifier and loudspeaker with suitable interconnecting cables.
  4. Connect signal, GLM network and mains to the amplifier, then calibrate with GLM.

Tip: Plan the cable route and length before the wall is closed: interconnecting cables are not included.

Workflow 5: Post production and broadcast room

Keep monitoring consistent from room to room.

Connections

ConnectTo
Console or monitor controllerANALOG IN or DIGITAL IN
GLM networkGLM NETWORK ports

Setup

  1. Install the monitors and connect the GLM network.
  2. Run GLM AutoCal in each room.
  3. Store each room's settings in the monitors.
  4. Use ISS so the system sleeps when idle and wakes with signal.

Tip: The same GLM-calibrated reference in every room helps mixes translate.

Workflow 6: Adding a subwoofer

Extend a 1032C system with a GENELEC 7300 series SAM subwoofer.

Connections

ConnectTo
SourceSubwoofer inputs
Subwoofer outputs1032C ANALOG IN
All devicesGLM network

Setup

  1. Route the signal through the subwoofer to the monitors.
  2. Connect all devices on the GLM network.
  3. Let GLM align levels, delays and subwoofer phase (AutoPhase).
  4. Store the settings.

Tip: GENELEC recommends its 7300 series subwoofers for the 1032C.
