Product overview
The GENELEC F One is a compact active subwoofer that combines extended, controlled bass performance with award-winning aesthetic design that blends beautifully with any space and decor.
The F One reproduces low frequencies right down to 35 Hz with very low distortion, even at high SPLs. Its onboard room response controls and bass management let you tailor the system precisely to your room, so the main loudspeakers can focus on the rest of the spectrum. With analogue plus optical and coaxial digital inputs, automatic input detection and a choice of remote controls, the newly upgraded F One is the ultimate hub of a Genelec home audio system. It is available in Black and White.

The hub of your home audio system
Up to four sources can be connected at the same time: two digital (optical and coaxial) and two analogue (RCA pair and 3.5 mm jack). Choose between them with the Select button or the remote control's arrow keys, or leave the F One on automatic input selection; a coloured LED in the front foot shows which source is active. The playback level of the whole system is set from the F One.
Bass management
The F One directs frequencies below 85 Hz to its own driver and passes the higher frequencies through its RCA outputs to the main loudspeakers. For the .1/LFE channel of a multichannel system, Genelec recommends doing the bass management in the processor or receiver and connecting only the LFE channel, which has its own 120 Hz low-pass filter.
Remote control options
The supplied wireless remote control has volume, input select, power and mute buttons and needs no line of sight. The F One can also learn the buttons of most IR remote controls, for example a TV remote, and an IR extension cable is supplied for when the receiver in the foot is out of sight. The optional GENELEC 9310A wired volume control plugs into the System Volume Control connector.
Tailored to your room
The SUBW LEVEL control matches the subwoofer to the main loudspeakers, the Roll-Off switches attenuate the response below 35 Hz by -2, -4 or -6 dB (near a wall -2 dB, in a corner -4 dB) and the Phase switches align the subwoofer with the main loudspeakers in 90° steps. HT Mode hands volume control to an analogue source with its own volume control, such as a home theatre receiver.

GENELEC F One: frequently asked questions
Which loudspeakers does the F One complement?
The F One was designed to complement the Genelec G One and G Two active loudspeakers; its bass management sends everything above 85 Hz to the main loudspeakers through its RCA outputs.
Can I connect a TV?
Yes. Connect the TV's optical or coaxial digital output to the F One. The F One can learn the TV remote's buttons, so one remote controls the volume.
How do I find the best position?
Start close to the centre of the front wall, less than 60 cm from it, then move the subwoofer left or right along the wall until the bass is smoothest. Only then fine-tune with the level, Roll-Off and Phase controls.
Does the F One switch itself off?
With ISS on, it goes to standby (below 0.5 W) after about 45 minutes without signal and wakes automatically when a signal returns or a remote button is pressed.
Where can I buy the GENELEC F One in India?
The GENELEC F One is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
Workflow 1: TV sound with a 2.1 system
Upgrade TV sound with a pair of active loudspeakers and the F One.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| TV optical output | OPTICAL digital input of the F One |
| F One RCA L / R outputs | Main loudspeakers |
| Mains | Supplied mains cable |
Setup
- Switch everything off and place the subwoofer near the centre of the front wall.
- Connect the TV with an optical cable and the main loudspeakers to the RCA outputs.
- Teach the F One the volume, mute and power buttons of the TV remote (hold Select until the LED blinks red).
- Set the phase with an 85 Hz test tone and balance the level with SUBW LEVEL.
Tip: If the subwoofer cannot see the remote, run the supplied IR extension cable from IR IN to a spot near the TV.
Workflow 2: Streamer and music listening
Play music from a network streamer through the F One and a pair of loudspeakers.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Streamer digital output | COAXIAL or OPTICAL input |
| F One RCA outputs | Main loudspeakers |
Setup
- Connect the streamer's digital output to the coaxial or optical input.
- Connect the main loudspeakers to the RCA outputs.
- Use the wireless remote to select the input and set the system volume.
- Fine-tune Roll-Off for the placement: near a wall -2 dB, in a corner -4 dB.
Tip: The source LED in the front foot shows the selected input: green optical, yellow coaxial.
Workflow 3: Desktop system with a computer
Add deep bass to a computer or phone based desktop system.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Computer or phone headphone output | 3.5 mm STEREO input |
| F One RCA outputs | Desktop loudspeakers |
Setup
- Connect the computer to the 3.5 mm stereo jack input.
- Connect the loudspeakers to the RCA outputs.
- Place the subwoofer under the desk, symmetrically if possible.
- Set the level with SUBW LEVEL and the system volume with the remote.
Tip: The 3.5 mm and RCA stereo inputs are parallel: connect two analogue sources, but play only one at a time.
Workflow 4: Home theatre LFE channel
Use the F One for the .1 channel of a surround receiver.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Receiver subwoofer (LFE) output | LFE RCA input |
| Receiver | Bass management of the system |
Setup
- Connect only the receiver's LFE output to the LFE input.
- Leave bass management to the receiver or processor.
- Turn HT MODE ON so the receiver keeps volume control.
- Align phase and level at the listening position.
Tip: The LFE input has a 120 Hz low-pass filter, so it is not for full-range signals.
Workflow 5: One-knob volume with the 9310A
Control the level of the whole system with a wired desktop knob.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| GENELEC 9310A wired volume control | SYSTEM VOLUME CONTROL connector |
Setup
- Plug the 9310A into the system volume control connector.
- Place the knob on the desk or table.
- Turn it to set the volume of the subwoofer and the main loudspeakers together.
Tip: The wireless remote remains available for input select, mute and power.
Workflow 6: Several F One subwoofers in one home
Stop one remote from controlling every subwoofer in the building.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Wireless remote | Matched to one F One |
Setup
- Hold Power and Select on the subwoofer until the LED blinks white.
- On the remote, hold volume + and then volume - for a few seconds.
- When the LED stops blinking, the remote controls only that subwoofer.
- To undo the matching, hold Power on the subwoofer for ten seconds.
Tip: If the local WiFi disturbs the RF remote, Genelec recommends using an IR remote control instead.
