Product overview

The GENELEC S360A is a high-SPL SAM studio monitor that fuses main monitor performance with a compact size, without compromising predictability, speech intelligibility or sound quality.

In a low diffraction enclosure with premium Finnish woodwork, a 10-inch high-efficiency woofer and a 1.7-inch titanium compression driver in an extended Directivity Control Waveguide deliver 118 dB short-term SPL, with peaks even higher. It suits demanding film, post and music production; with a subwoofer it serves rooms where the listening distance exceeds 10 m.

Maximum short‑term SPL 118 dB
Frequency response (-6 dB) 36 Hz - 22 kHz
Class D amplifiers 250 W + 100 W
Weight 30 kg

Key features

  • 250 mm woofer and a 1.7-inch titanium compression driver in an extended DCW waveguide
  • 250 W + 100 W Class D amplifiers, crossover at 1.4 kHz
  • 118 dB short-term SPL, 128 dB peak per pair
  • 95° x 75° dispersion, linear phase above the lowest octaves
  • Down-firing LIP ports and Iso-Plate decoupling, M10 mounting points
  • Analogue XLR and AES/EBU inputs, GLM network with AutoCal
  • Amplifier can be placed remotely in the 2U rack installation kit

Loud and clear

The S360A's well-controlled dispersion keeps the sound neutral on and off axis, so it works in large rooms, midfield and nearfield set-ups. A 32 mm front baffle and bracing minimise panel vibration.

Configure, calibrate and control

GLM calibrates the S360A for the room, from mono to immersive, and doubles as a monitor controller: calibrated listening levels, solo and mute, and switching between formats, systems and listening positions.

Flexible mounting

Free-standing on the Iso-Plate, on stands, walls, ceilings or trusses with tailor-made brackets, or flush mounted. All connectors face down for easy cabling close to a wall.

In the box

  • 1 x GENELEC S360A monitor
  • 1 x mains cable (1.8 m)
  • 1 x GLM network cable (5 m)
  • 1 x operating manual

Calibration requires GLM software and the GLM Kit (8300-601) or a 9320A SAM Reference Controller (sold separately). Mounting brackets are sold separately.

GENELEC S360A: frequently asked questions

How loud can the S360A play?

It delivers at least 118 dB short-term SPL at 1 m and 128 dB peak per pair, with very low distortion.

Can it be used in a small room?

Yes. Its controlled dispersion allows midfield and nearfield use; calibrate the listening level in GLM for safe listening.

Is it available in white?

Yes. GENELEC offers the S360A in black and in white.

Where can I buy the GENELEC S360A in India?

The GENELEC S360A is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.

Workflow 1: High-SPL stereo mixing

Use the S360A as a compact main monitor for music and film mixing at higher levels.

Connections

ConnectTo
Monitor controller or interfaceANALOG IN (XLR)
MainsMAINS INPUT, earthed outlet

Setup

  1. Place the monitors symmetrically on the S360-415B floor stand or S360-408B stand plate.
  2. Aim the acoustic axes at the listening position.
  3. Run GLM AutoCal, or set the tone controls with STORED off.
  4. Calibrate the listening level in GLM.

Tip: Use the S360A's power for headroom rather than higher average listening levels.

Workflow 2: Calibrating a stereo pair with GLM

Let GLM measure the room and tune each S360A for the listening position.

Connections

ConnectTo
Each monitorGLM NETWORK (RJ45), daisy‑chained
GLM adapterLast monitor's GLM NETWORK port and computer USB
Measurement microphoneGLM adapter microphone input

Setup

  1. Daisy-chain the monitors with CAT5 (RJ45) cables and connect the last one to the GLM adapter.
  2. Connect the adapter to the computer by USB and place the microphone at ear height at the listening position, pointing up.
  3. Install GLM from genelec.com and run the AutoCal measurement.
  4. Store the settings in the monitors so they work without a computer.

Tip: GLM also works as a full monitor controller: calibrated levels, solo, mute and switching between systems.

Workflow 3: Immersive system

Build a multichannel or immersive room with S360A monitors around the listener.

Connections

ConnectTo
Each output channelANALOG IN or DIGITAL IN
All monitors and subwoofersGLM network

Setup

  1. Mount the monitors with S360-424B or S360-450B brackets on walls, ceiling or truss.
  2. Point each acoustic axis at the listening position.
  3. Connect every device on the GLM network.
  4. Calibrate the whole system with GLM, including level and delay.

Tip: The Iso-Plate is removed before fitting brackets (M6 Allen key) and stored for later use.

Workflow 4: Large room with a subwoofer

Cover listening distances beyond 10 m with a GENELEC 7300 series subwoofer.

Connections

ConnectTo

Subwoofer outputsS360A inputs
All devicesGLM network

Setup

  1. Connect the monitors and the subwoofer on the GLM network.
  2. Set the S360A subwoofer high-pass (50-100 Hz) in GLM.
  3. Run AutoCal so levels, delays and phase are aligned.
  4. Store the settings.

Tip: GENELEC names the 7380 and 7382 as a good match for the S360A.

Workflow 5: In-wall and screen installation

Flush mount behind a perforated screen or in a wall.

Connections

ConnectTo
MonitorWall recess on the Iso‑Plate
Signal and GLMDown‑facing connectors

Setup

  1. Use the Iso-Plate to decouple the monitor in the recess.
  2. Ventilate the recess so the air near the amplifier stays below 35 °C.
  3. Connect cables to the down-facing panel.
  4. Calibrate with GLM after installation.

Tip: Down-firing LIP ports make the S360A suitable for use behind perforated screens.

Workflow 6: AES/EBU digital feed

Run the monitors straight from a digital console or converter.

Connections

ConnectTo
AES/EBU sourceDIGITAL IN AES/EBU
Next monitorDIGITAL THRU AES/EBU

Setup

  1. Connect AES/EBU to the first monitor.
  2. Daisy-chain up to four monitors through DIGITAL THRU.
  3. Select channel A or B with the DIGITAL switches or in GLM.
  4. The digital input is selected automatically, even when silent.

Tip: -30 dBFS produces 100 dB SPL at 1 m.
