Product overview

The GRACE DESIGN MOXi is a two-channel acoustic instrument preamp, EQ and DI pedal with blend or A/B operation, an independent 3-band EQ and 75 Hz high-pass filter on each channel, an FX loop, boost, mute / tune and A/B footswitches, a 1/4" amp output and a transformer-isolated XLR DI output, running from 9 V DC.

MOXi claims the sweet spot of the GRACE DESIGN pedal line-up: it delivers the audio performance of its big brother FELiX with a more approachable feature set similar to BiX. For players who need two channels of incredible sounding preamp and EQ, but maybe not quite the kitchen sink, MOXi is just right. Designed and built in Lyons, CO, USA.

Blend (MIX) or A/B operation 2 channels
Per channel, sweepable mid, ±12 dB 3‑band EQ
Input impedance, both channels 1 MΩ
Pedalboard power 9 V DC

Key features

  • Two musical instrument preamps with 0.5 % thin film resistors and 1 MΩ inputs
  • Blend (MIX) or A/B output operation with an A/B footswitch for multiple instrument setups
  • Independent 3-band EQ on both channels: low and high shelving and a sweepable mid
  • Switchable 75 Hz high-pass filter on both channels
  • Single XLR DI output with a high-quality, fully shielded output transformer
  • Line-level 1/4" stage amp output
  • FX loop with individual send and return
  • Mute / tune footswitch mutes all outputs except the FX send; boost footswitch for a variable 10 dB boost
  • 6V mic bias power on both 1/4" inputs; CH2 TRS input with the ring routed to CH1
  • Rear panel channel 1 boost defeat; phase reverse on each channel
  • 9 V DC operation; designed and built in Lyons, CO, USA

Two sources, one pedal

Connect two instruments for A/B switching, or blend a pickup and an electret microphone on one instrument. A dual-source pickup system wired to a TRS jack feeds both channels through the CH2 input on a single cable, then each signal is EQ'd and blended with the MIX control.

Tone shaping

Each channel has a 75 Hz, 12 dB/octave high-pass filter with Thomson-Butterworth response, a 250 Hz low shelf, a sweepable mid from 125 Hz to 4 kHz and a 1.5 kHz high shelf, all ±12 dB.

In the box

  • MOXi preamp
  • External universal AC power supply, 9 V, 500 mA

GRACE DESIGN MOXi: frequently asked questions

Can MOXi blend a pickup and a microphone?

Yes. In MIX mode the MIX knob blends channel 1 and channel 2, and 6V mic bias power is available for electret microphones on both inputs.

Can it switch between two instruments?

Yes. Set DIP switch 1 to A/B and use the A/B footswitch.

How do I tune silently?

Connect a tuner to the FX send: MUTE silences the DI and amp outputs while the FX send stays active.

Can I stop the boost affecting channel 1?

Yes. Rear panel DIP switch 2 defeats the boost on channel 1.

Where can I buy the GRACE DESIGN MOXi in India?
