Product overview

The GRACE DESIGN ROXi is a high-fidelity microphone and instrument preamp pedal with a precision gold-contact rotary gain switch, 48V phantom power, a 75 / 150 Hz high-pass filter, a 3-band EQ with sweepable mid, an FX loop with blend control, boost, mute / tune, a transformer-isolated DI output and a built-in universal AC power supply.

ROXi is the bigger, more fully equipped GRACE DESIGN preamp pedal: a mic preamp, channel strip and stage preamp in one. The precision rotary gain switch raises the audio performance, especially in higher gain ranges (ribbon microphones welcome), and the combo XLR / 1/4" input lets it run as an instrument preamp too. On a studio desktop it is a genuine GRACE DESIGN recording channel; on a pedalboard it is a stompbox with astonishing audio performance and massive flexibility.

Noise referred to input, 50 Ω -130 dB
Sweepable mid, ±10 dB 3‑band EQ
Switchable high‑pass filter 75 / 150 Hz
Built‑in universal power supply 100‑240 V AC

Key features

  • Studio-quality mic preamplifier with a precision gold-contact rotary gain switch and 0.5 % thin film resistors
  • Combo XLR / 1/4" input for microphones, instruments, electret microphones (12V power) and line sources
  • 3-band EQ: high and low shelving and a sweepable midrange, each ±10 dB
  • Switchable 75 Hz or 150 Hz high-pass filter
  • FX insert loop with FX mix control and an optional footswitch for FX mute
  • Boost footswitch for a variable 10 dB level boost
  • Mute / tune footswitch that mutes all outputs except the dedicated tuner output
  • Fully ground-isolated DI output with a shielded transformer; level-controlled stage amp output
  • 9 V DC, 500 mA output for powering other pedals
  • Universal 100-240 V AC supply with a standard IEC cable; designed and built in Lyons, CO, USA

Tone shaping

The HPF rolls off at 12 dB/octave at 75 Hz or 150 Hz. The LOW shelf sits at 125 Hz (250 Hz by internal jumper), the HIGH shelf at 2 kHz (1 kHz by jumper), and the semi-parametric MID sweeps 275 Hz to 3.6 kHz at a fixed Q of 1.2, all ±10 dB.

Built for the stage

The top panel is 1/4" extruded aluminium, the pots have metal shafts and the 1/4" jacks heavy-duty metal bushings. The DI output can be set to mic or line level, the amp output has its own level control, and the tuner output stays live while muted so you can tune silently.

Side panel settings

Six DIP switches set the DI level, HPF frequency and on / off, 12V electret mic power, the 9 V DC output and the function of footswitch 2 (boost or FX insert). Internal jumpers set the EQ corner frequencies, insert send pad, boost as gain trim, FX return mute and instrument gain.

In the box

  • ROXi microphone preamp pedal
  • Standard IEC AC power cable for the destination country

GRACE DESIGN ROXi: frequently asked questions

Can ROXi be used with instruments?

Yes. The centre 1/4" jack of the combo input accepts any instrument with a pickup, an electret microphone or a line output.

Does it need an external power adaptor?

No. ROXi has a universal 100-240 V AC supply with a standard IEC cable, and it can power other pedals from its 9 V DC, 500 mA output.

Can I tune silently on stage?

Yes. MUTE / TUNE mutes the DI and amp outputs while the dedicated tuner output stays active.

Can the DI feed a mic input on the console?

Yes. Set DIP switch 1 to mic: the DI output is padded by 26 dB.

Where can I buy the GRACE DESIGN ROXi in India?
