Product overview

The HARRISON 32Classic MS Mix Strip is a high-performance all-analog channel strip in 1U: the transformer-coupled mic preamp, filters and 4-band EQ of the flagship 32Classic recording console, with hybrid workflow features and an integrated stereo mix bus for summing several units together.

The 32Classic MS brings the signature HARRISON sound and processing tools from the 32Classic large-format console to your studio, and for the first time that sound is available in 19" rack format. It includes the exact transformer mic preamp of the console, a front-panel mic / instrument input, a balanced insert point, the classic 32C 4-band EQ with high-pass and low-pass filters, a channel output fader with a 0 dB fixed-level switch, and a mix bus routing section that lets you build an analog mixer one Mix Strip at a time.

The HARRISON mic pre: the sound of legends

A defining feature of classic HARRISON recordings is the high-performance transformer-coupled microphone preamp. The 32Classic MS preamp offers 70 dB of clean gain and the warm, rich tone HARRISON is famous for: the transformer's gentle roll-off at each end of the spectrum and its delicate phase shift create a sweet and musical sound for virtually any source. Mic and line inputs have independent gain controls, and a tri-colour LED shows the input signal.

Characterful filters and the 32Classic EQ

As on the original 3232 and the latest 32Classic console, the filters have a musical 12 dB/octave slope; the high-pass filter, from 25 Hz to 3.1 kHz, adds a characterful 3 dB resonant peak, and the low-pass spans 160 Hz to 20 kHz. The 4-band parametric EQ, crafted in the 1970s when the sound had to be right on the way in, has LOW (40-600 Hz), two MID (200 Hz - 3.1 kHz and 400 Hz - 6 kHz) and HIGH (900 Hz - 13 kHz) bands with +/-10 dB and proportional Q, for broad musical curves and precise sculpting.

Integrated mix bus and sidecar

Build a HARRISON recording and mixing system one channel at a time: outputs of several units are cascaded through the rear summing connectors with the bus link cables, and the sum link cable makes one unit the bus master with the MIX OUTPUT level and L/R meters. Balance signals with the faders and pan them across the stereo outputs, or engage the 0 dB fader bypass to record at unity gain. Combined as a sidecar, several units add the HARRISON sound to drum or instrument buses in any studio.

In the box

  • 32Classic MS
  • IEC power cord for your country
  • Safety sheet
  • 1 bus link cable and 1 sum link cable

HARRISON 32Classic MS Mix Strip: frequently asked questions

Can I use one 32Classic MS on its own?

Yes. On its own only the FADER and 0 dB output controls are used; use the supplied sum link cable to access the MIX OUTPUT section during single-unit use.

How do I connect several units?

Connect the rear mix bus connectors with the bus link cables, dedicate one unit as the bus master with the sum link cable, and chain mains power through the AC pass-through.

Does it have an instrument input?

Yes, the front-panel combo connector takes a 1/4" instrument jack (HiZ, 1.2 MΩ) as well as an XLR microphone.

Where is the insert point in the signal flow?

Directly after the input section and before the EQ, with balanced XLR send and return on the rear and an INS switch on the front.

Where can I buy the HARRISON 32Classic MS Mix Strip in India?
