Product overview

The RME Digiface RAVENNA is a 192 kHz USB 3 audio interface for RAVENNA networks: 128 channels of RAVENNA and 64 channels of MADI in each direction, four Gigabit network ports, a headphone output and stand-alone RAVENNA/MADI conversion, in a lightweight, portable unit.

The Digiface RAVENNA combines a full RAVENNA stack with AES67 and ST 2110-30/31 support and redundant audio-over-IP streaming to ST 2022-7, with everything RME is known for: USB 3, MADI, TotalMix FX and strong options in both USB and stand-alone operation. The two BNC sockets switch between word clock I/O and coaxial MADI I/O with up to 64 channels. Four RJ45 ports work in switched or redundancy mode, a browser-based GUI configures the RAVENNA module, and RME's MADIface series driver connects it to Mac and Windows computers. It runs on USB bus power, with an included power supply for full load.

  • Network standards: RAVENNA, AES67, ST 2110-30 / -31 and ST 2022-7 redundancy
  • 32 streams, network layer 3, channel-based routing matrix
  • 4 x Gigabit Ethernet: switched mode or redundancy mode (primary/secondary)
  • Coaxial MADI I/O on BNC, switchable to word clock I/O
  • Stand-alone 64-channel RAVENNA/MADI converter without a computer
  • Clock from PTP (RAVENNA), MADI, word clock or internal
  • Headphone output (6.3 mm TRS), DC-coupled, also usable as line output with its own submix
  • TotalMix FX routing and mixing; configuration via browser GUI and NMOS IS-04 / IS-05
  • USB bus power plus external supply input; MIDI over MADI; ARC USB support

RAVENNA and MADI over USB 3

The Digiface RAVENNA records and plays back 128 RAVENNA channels and 64 MADI channels at 48 kHz, 64 and 32 at 96 kHz, and 32 and 16 at 192 kHz. All channels are handled by RME's TotalMix FX and the RAVENNA web interface. Sample rates of 44.1 to 192 kHz are supported, with PTP or internal clock on the network side.

Broadcast-ready networking

On the network side the interface offers a full RAVENNA stack with AES67 and ST 2110-30/31 support, plus redundant audio-over-IP streaming according to ST 2022-7. The four network ports can act as a switch or as primary and secondary redundant pairs, and NMOS IS-04 / IS-05 is supported for configuration.

Stand-alone RAVENNA/MADI converter

Without a computer, the Digiface RAVENNA works as a mobile 64-channel MADI to RAVENNA and RAVENNA to MADI converter, transferring all channels unchanged both ways. A headphone submix of MADI and RAVENNA channels can be stored in the unit for stand-alone monitoring. Power comes from the included supply or from a USB power supply or battery.

TotalMix FX and TotalMix Remote

TotalMix FX mixes as many independent submixes as there are outputs, with a dedicated Control Room section, talkback, fader and mute groups and Mackie/OSC remote control. TotalMix Remote controls the mixer from an iPad or another computer.

In the box

Free RME software: TotalMix FX, TotalMix Remote and DIGICheck. Drivers for Windows and macOS 11 or higher.

RME Digiface RAVENNA: frequently asked questions

How many channels does the Digiface RAVENNA handle?

At 48 kHz, 128 RAVENNA channels and 64 MADI channels in each direction. At 96 kHz 64 RAVENNA and 32 MADI, at 192 kHz 32 RAVENNA and 16 MADI.

Which network standards are supported?

RAVENNA, AES67, ST 2110-30 / -31 and ST 2022-7 redundant streaming, with NMOS IS-04 / IS-05 for configuration.

Can it work without a computer?

Yes. It then operates as a 64-channel RAVENNA/MADI converter in both directions, with a stored headphone mix.

Is it bus-powered?

Yes, it uses USB bus power. An external power supply is included for stable operation at highest load, for example with all four network ports in use.

Where can I buy the RME Digiface RAVENNA in India?

The RME Digiface RAVENNA is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
