Product overview

The SOLID STATE LOGIC UMD192 is the most powerful MADI and Dante digital audio interface: 192 channels bridging MADI, Dante and USB in a compact, portable half-rack unit with redundant connections and redundant power.

With exceptional flexibility and robust connectivity, the UMD192 is the companion for engineers working across live sound, broadcast, post-production and studio environments. Used as a high-capacity interface or as a format bridge, it keeps workflows streamlined and future-ready: from broadcast music recording and mixing, especially with SSL System T, to high-channel-count studio sessions. It is a match for SSL Oracle and ORIGIN installations needing Dante or MADI conversion, and a powerful solution for any console or computer-based studio using Dante or MADI.

Key features

  • 192 channels at 44.1 / 48 and 88.2 / 96 kHz; 128 channels at 176.4 / 192 kHz
  • Bidirectional bridging between any two formats (MADI, Dante, USB), with a split feed to the third
  • 6 MADI BNC pairs, configurable as 3 dual-redundant MADI connections
  • Dante network audio with AES67 and ST 2110 support (ST 2110 with DDM)
  • Dante latency as low as 0.25 ms
  • Ruggedised Ethernet ports: 2 primary and 2 secondary, with link and activity LEDs
  • USB 3.0 class-compliant interface on USB-C
  • Power from AC mains, Power over Ethernet or USB, alone or combined for failover
  • Clock from the Dante / AoIP network or MADI port 1
  • Lockable front panel with clear signal flow, sync, power and network indicators
  • Compact ½RU form factor for desktop, console-side or rack-mounted use

One interface for live, broadcast and studio

UMD192 passes bidirectional audio between any two of MADI, Dante and USB while the third format can receive a split feed. Connect it to a computer as a 192-channel USB interface, use it to bridge a MADI console to a Dante network, or both at once, with the signal flow mode selected on the front panel.

Redundancy you can rely on

Redundant mode pairs the six MADI ports into three dual-redundant connections, the Ethernet ports provide primary and secondary networks, and power can come from AC mains, PoE or USB, used alone or combined for failover, such as AC with a PoE injector.

Front panel

A clear display shows signal flow, sample-rate sync, power status and network connectivity. Controls are locked by default; press and hold the padlock button to unlock them, then cycle the signal flow mode, toggle the clock source between Dante and MADI, and switch MADI redundancy on or off.

In the box

  • UMD192
  • USB-C to USB-C cable
  • USB-A to USB-C adapter
  • IEC power cable

SOLID STATE LOGIC UMD192: frequently asked questions
