Product overview
The RME M-1610 Pro is a 16-channel AD, 8-channel DA converter in a 1U 19-inch enclosure, with 16 analogue inputs, 8 balanced line outputs, a separate stereo headphone output, four ADAT outputs, coaxial and optional optical MADI, redundant AVB and dual internal power supplies.
Every analogue channel can be switched to +24, +19 or +13 dBu, each with the full dynamic range of the converters. TRS jacks provide alternative connections for D-sub inputs 11-16 and outputs 1-2, and quick-access buttons handle source selection and volume for the headphone output. The internal routing matrix connects 272 inputs and 298 outputs: eight AVB streams (128 channels), two MADI ports with up to 64 channels each, all analogue I/O and the ADAT outputs.
| Line inputs / outputs (+24 dBu max.) | 16 / 8 |
| Routing matrix | 272 x 298 |
| AVB channels (8 streams) | 128 |
| Min. network delay | 0.3 ms |

Built for engineers with analogue gear
Designed at the request of recording engineers using a variety of analogue effects and instruments in their sessions, the M-1610 Pro adds user-friendly features for studio, live and broadcast: TRS alternative connections, redundant network ports, a headphone output for monitoring and troubleshooting, and quick-access buttons.
Deterministic AVB networking
Lowest converter latencies and deterministic AVB networking with a configurable network delay down to 0.3 ms deliver samples, even from multiple devices, time-aligned with nanosecond accuracy across an entire network.
Transparent conversion
The AD and DA filters are optimised for each sample rate, with a focus on accuracy and RME's signature transparency. With SteadyClock FS the conversion to and from analogue is state-of-the-art at any level and across all digital formats.

Workflow 1: Outboard and instruments in a studio
Patch analogue effects and instruments into a MADI or AVB system.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Analogue sources | LINE IN 1‑16 (D‑sub) or TRS 11‑16 |
| Outboard inputs | LINE OUT 1‑8 (D‑sub) or TRS 1‑2 |
Setup
- Connect the D-sub or TRS cables.
- Set each channel to +24, +19 or +13 dBu.
- Route the channels in the matrix.
- Store the setup.
Workflow 2: Redundant AVB on stage
