Product overview

The SONODYNE SLA 3104 is a four channel power amplifier from the SLA Series, delivering 600 W per channel into 4 Ω in a 2RU chassis.

The SLA Series is SONODYNE's range of 2RU power amplifiers: nine models, both dual and four channel, giving a broad choice of power output so a model can be matched to the power requirements of the application. All models can operate in three modes: dual channel, parallel (mono) and bridge. The SLA 3104 delivers 400 W per channel into 8 Ω, 600 W per channel into 4 Ω and 1200 W in 8 Ω bridged mode, with a signal to noise ratio of 105 dB and a frequency response of 20 Hz - 20 kHz (±0.5 dB).

Key features

  • Soft start
  • High SNR
  • Low THD, IMD
  • Heavy-duty power supply for high dynamic power
  • Short-circuit, thermal, output DC, RF protection
  • Variable-speed twin fan back-to-front cooling
  • Twist-lock output connectors
  • LED indicators for metering, status and operating mode
  • Variable sensitivity selector

Power for every mode

The SLA 3104 runs in dual channel, parallel (mono) or bridge mode, selected at the rear with a 3 position slide switch (dual, mono, bridge). Into 8 Ω it gives 400 W per channel, into 4 Ω 600 W per channel, and bridged into 8 Ω 1200 W. A second slide switch sets the input sensitivity to 0.775 V, 1 V or 1.4 V.

Built for continuous duty

The SLA Series uses a large number of matched complementary devices in parallel with a linear transfer characteristic, for low distortion and a high safe operating area at elevated power levels. A heavy-duty power supply provides high dynamic power, a soft start eases switch-on, and the amplifier and load are protected against short circuit, output DC, thermal and RF faults. Cooling is by variable-speed twin fans, back to front.

Connections and front panel

Each of the four channels has an XLR input and a twist-lock connector output. The front panel carries clip, protect and signal LED indicators and a 42 detent rotary volume control per channel, as given in the official specification.
