Product overview

The SONODYNE SLX 2050 is a passive 15 inch subwoofer of the SLX Series, with a high excursion 15 inch LF transducer in a rigid, heavily braced 18 mm plywood cabinet.

Built for portable and fixed install PA, the SLX 2050 handles 400 W continuous, 800 W program and 1600 W peak power and reaches a maximum SPL of 125 dB continuous and 131 dB peak. Its 15 inch LF transducer with a 3 inch voice coil extends the frequency range down to 45 Hz (-10 dB), with a sensitivity of 99 dB (1 W, 1 m) into a nominal 8 Ω. Twist-lock connectors carry the input and a link to further cabinets, and the black cabinet is finished in durable paint.

Key features

  • Portable and fixed install PA subwoofer
  • High power handling: 400 W continuous, 800 W program, 1600 W peak
  • High SPL: 125 dB continuous, 131 dB peak
  • High excursion LF transducer: 15 inch with 3 inch voice coil
  • Rigid painted cabinet of 18 mm plywood with heavy internal bracing
  • Twist-lock input and link connectors; nominal impedance 8 Ω

High excursion 15 inch LF

The 15 inch LF transducer with its 3 inch voice coil is a high excursion design. SONODYNE customises the SLX transducers to meet the frequency, SPL and high power handling needs of the series; on the SLX 2050 the range reaches down to 45 Hz (-10 dB).

Rigid, braced plywood cabinet

The enclosure is made from 18 mm plywood with heavy internal bracing and measures 460 x 590 x 520 mm (W x H x D). SONODYNE finishes the SLX enclosures in multiple coats of durable stipple paint, and a powder coated perforated grille provides optimal transducer protection: roadworthy and great sounding.

System set-up

The SLX 2050 is passive and is driven from an external power amplifier through its twist-lock input; the twist-lock link connector passes the signal on to a further cabinet. SONODYNE recommends a crossover at 80 Hz - 120 Hz with an 18 - 12 dB/octave low-pass slope and a subsonic filter at 35 Hz, 24 dB/octave. A caution label on the rear reads: for performance and protection, use with SONODYNE SLX SC1 controller only.

In the box
