Product overview

The SONODYNE SSW 2010 is a high performance on wall subwoofer with a 6 inch dual voice-coil driver, stereo and mono modes, a direct 4 Ω input, a 70 / 100 V line input and a pair of high-pass outputs for satellite speakers.

The vented, side firing MDF cabinet covers 45 Hz to 200 Hz (response 50 Hz to 200 Hz), with 88 dB sensitivity (1 W, 1 m, half space) and 105 dB SPL at 60 W. In direct mode it takes 100 W + 100 W at 4 Ω + 4 Ω (stereo) or 8 Ω (mono); on a 70 V line it offers 7.5, 15 and 30 W taps, on a 100 V line 15, 30 and 60 W. The inbuilt high pass filter feeds the satellites, and the subwoofer comes fitted with wall-mount brackets.

  • Black or white

Direct and 70 / 100 V inputs

The INPUT SELECT slide switch chooses between DIRECT, for the 4 Ω speaker output of an amplifier, and 70 / 100 V, for a line output. The 70 / 100 V input has a COM pin and three power tap pins: 7.5, 15 and 30 W at 70 V, or 15, 30 and 60 W at 100 V (impedance 653, 327, 163 Ω at 70 V and 666, 333, 167 Ω at 100 V).

Stereo and mono modes

The MODE slide switch selects stereo or mono operation. In stereo mode the direct input takes left and right channels at 4 Ω + 4 Ω, and each satellite output should see a 4 Ω satellite. In mono mode, as with a 70 / 100 V line, the subwoofers are connected in series and the high-pass output is available from the left channel only, for an 8 Ω satellite.

Wall mounting

The SSW 2010 comes fitted with two sets of wall mount brackets: one part stays on the cabinet, the other is screwed to the wall, and the cabinet is lowered so that its bracket pins engage with the wall bracket, as the owner's manual shows. The cabinet measures 450 x 350 x 180 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 12.2 kg.
