Product overview
The TASCAM CD-A580 v2 combines a cassette recorder, a CD player and a USB flash drive recorder / player in one rack-mountable unit, a multi-format problem solver for installation and professional applications.
It plays the most popular media and moves audio between them: cassettes, CDs and line sources can be recorded to a USB flash drive as MP3 files for archiving, and CDs, USB files or line sources can be recorded to cassette. A one-way IC logic transport chosen for years of professional use, ±10% pitch control, repeat, shuffle and programmed playback, power-on playback and recording with an external timer, a headphone output and the included wireless remote make it a dependable unit for shops, classrooms, conference rooms and archives. The v2 is marked “V2” on the front panel, has a USB 2.0 Full Speed port and saves recordings in RIP and REC folders.

Archive cassettes and CDs to USB
Cassette masters can be captured to a USB flash drive as MP3 files, so analogue recordings are saved and archived in digital form. CDs and the LINE inputs can be recorded too. From a CD each track is saved as its own MP3 file automatically; from tape or line you can divide the file manually while recording. On the CD-A580 v2, CD recordings go into a RIP folder (TRK1.MP3, TRK2.MP3 …) and tape or line recordings into a REC folder (REC001.MP3 …).
Make cassettes from CD, USB or line
CDs can be recorded to blank cassette media, and the track order can be programmed before recording. The same applies to MP3 files on a USB flash drive, and recording from the line inputs is supported too. The REC LEVEL knob sets the level for each source, and CD or USB playback starts and stops together with the recording.
Three players in one
The installation-grade CD player supports audio CDs, CD-R, CD-RW and data CDs with MP3 files. The USB port plays MP3 files from folders on a FAT16 or FAT32 flash drive, with up to 8 folder levels. Repeat 1, repeat all, repeat folder, shuffle and programmed playback work on CD and USB, and the display shows file names, titles, artists and albums. The cassette deck plays all three common tape types with automatic tape type detection.
Built for installation
The CD-A580 v2 fits a standard rack in 3U. Power-on start switches select the source and the mode, so playback of CD, tape or USB, or recording from the line input to tape, can start under the control of an external timer. The RC-1329 wireless remote has separate key groups for CD, USB and tape.
