Product overview
The TASCAM DA-3000SD is a 2-channel DSD / PCM master recorder and AD/DA converter in a 1U rack unit, built with premium components for reference-grade recording, mastering and monitoring.
It records stereo or dual-mono PCM at up to 192 kHz / 24-bit and DSD at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz straight to SD card, and in ADDA DIRECT mode it works as a phase-coherent stand-alone AD/DA converter. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue I/O, AES/EBU and S/PDIF for PCM, and SDIF-3 / DSD-raw for DSD connect it to any studio. A TCXO clock, word clock in, thru and out, and a cascade function for synchronising several units complete a recorder that fits from the mastering room to a DSD multitrack session.
| PCM recording, 24‑bit | 192 kHz |
| DSD recording | 5.6 MHz |
| TCXO clock accuracy | ±1 ppm |
| Fanless rack unit | 1U |

Masterful audio in PCM and DSD
Choose PCM at 44.1 to 192 kHz with 16 or 24-bit resolution, or DSD at 2.8 or 5.6 MHz, and save the settings to suit the music. Recording straight to SD card makes sessions easy to carry and store. Auto track by level, digital track divisions, time or file size, sync recording, marks, an oscillator and flexible file naming support long and unattended recordings.
High-quality circuitry for AD/DA conversion
An EI core transformer with separate windings for the digital and analogue circuits feeds the audio section. The output stage has a dual-monaural configuration with one D/A converter for each channel, and every stage of the audio circuit is balanced to reduce noise on inputs and outputs. Low-impedance capacitors and low-noise, high-precision resistors were chosen carefully, and the TCXO clock generator provides an accuracy of ±1 ppm.
Mastering, monitoring and conversion
Send the stereo master from your recording software into the DA-3000SD to capture it at a higher resolution than a software bounce alone, or place it after outboard equipment to record its colouration in high definition. In ADDA DIRECT mode it serves as a portable high-definition converter for detailed monitoring from studio to studio, and its word clock output lets it act as a master clock, or it can follow an external clock.
DSD multitrack with cascaded units
The cascade function synchronises the start of recording and playback and the clock of several DA-3000SD units, linked by S/PDIF / CASCADE and, if wanted, word clock. Connect eight units and record up to 16 DSD tracks at a time.

TASCAM DA-3000SD: frequently asked questions
Which formats does the DA-3000SD record?
PCM as BWF files at 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192 kHz with 16 or 24-bit, and DSD as DSDIFF or DSF files at 2.8224 or 5.6448 MHz, in stereo or dual mono.
Can it be used only as a converter?
Yes. In ADDA DIRECT mode it works as a stand-alone AD/DA converter, with the analogue and digital inputs selected separately.
Can I record more than two tracks?
Yes, by cascading several DA-3000SD units: their recording, playback and clock are synchronised, and eight units record 16 tracks.
Can it sync to a studio clock?
Yes. It can use its internal TCXO, the WORD SYNC IN signal or the selected digital input as the master clock, and pass or generate word clock on WORD SYNC THRU/OUT.
Where can I buy the TASCAM DA-3000SD in India?
The TASCAM DA-3000SD is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
Workflow 1: Mastering from a computer
Capture the stereo master from your recording software at a higher resolution than a software bounce.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Computer audio interface digital output | DIGITAL IN [AES/EBU] |
| Monitor controller or amplifier | ANALOG OUTPUTS (BALANCED) |
| Headphones | Headphone jack |
| SD card | SD card slot |
Setup
- Select AES/EBU as the input and set CLOCK MSTR to DIN (or turn the sampling rate converter on).
- Set the file format and sampling rate on the REC FILE page.
- Press RECORD for standby, then PLAY as the master plays out.
- Press STOP to write the file and check it on playback.
Tip: Turn on AUTO TRACK in DD mode to follow the track divisions of a digital source.
Workflow 2: Recording through outboard processors
