Product overview
The TASCAM DR-10X is a compact plug-on recorder that attaches directly to the XLR connector of a handheld microphone: the ultimate compact news-gathering system.
A captive XLR connector with a locking clamp holds the DR-10X firmly on the mic, and it records interviews at 48 kHz / 24-bit Broadcast WAV resolution. It works with dynamic mics and with battery-powered condenser mics, so for small-scale reporting all you need is a microphone and the DR-10X: no bulky field recorder, just a compact rig you hold in one hand. Dual recording makes a safety file at a lower level, and the slide record switch, hold function and automatic file closing protect every take. One AAA battery records for at least 10 hours.
| Attaches straight to the mic | XLR plug‑on |

Record without a cable
Designed for plug-on connection, the DR-10X connects directly to XLR handheld mics for interviews, to mics on stands at press conferences, and to handheld mics in seminars and meetings. Weighing just 56.3 g without its battery, it fits in the palm of the hand, and the locking mechanism gives the whole mic and recorder assembly a solid feel.
Safety first: dual recording, limiter and auto level
Often there is only one chance to get the audio. Dual recording lets you set the main level as high as possible while a backup file is recorded at a lower level at the same time. An automatic gain control adjusts the input level to the input volume, and a limiter guards against sudden loud sounds.
Designed against misoperation
The record switch slides rather than presses, and the hold function stops recording from being interrupted by accidental contact. The OLED display shows the battery level, and if the battery runs out the file is closed automatically so recorded data is kept.
Monitor and check on the spot
Connect headphones to monitor the input while recording and to play back files immediately. On a computer, the DR-10X appears as a USB drive for quick transfer of recordings.
In the box

TASCAM DR-10X: frequently asked questions
Which microphones can I use with the DR-10X?
Microphones with an XLR output: dynamic mics and battery-powered condenser mics. The XLR input can also be set to EXT for an unbalanced external line signal.
What is dual recording?
The DR-10X records a second file at a lower level (−6 dB or −12 dB with firmware 2.00) at the same time as the main file, so you have a backup if the main recording overloads.
How long does it record on one battery?
About 10 hours with an alkaline AAA battery, about 8 hours with NiMH and about 15.5 hours with lithium (48 kHz / 24-bit WAV, headphones not connected). USB bus power is also supported.
Can I set up several units the same way?
Yes. Place a settings text file on each microSD card: the DR-10X reads it at start-up and applies the settings, including the clock and a file name word for each unit.
Where can I buy the TASCAM DR-10X in India?
The TASCAM DR-10X is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
