Product overview
The TASCAM MODEL 16 is an all-in-one 14-input analogue mixing console with a built-in 16-track SD card recorder, a 16-in / 14-out USB audio interface, 16 editable effects and Bluetooth® audio input, combining the warmth of analogue with a digital workflow.
Ten mic inputs (eight with TASCAM Ultra HDDA preamps), Hi-Z inputs for guitar or bass, one-knob compressors and 3-band EQ with sweepable mids put a full channel strip under every fader. Record all 14 inputs plus the stereo main mix straight to an SD card at 24-bit / 48 kHz, or send the same tracks to a computer over USB. Three aux sends, a sub bus, control-room outputs and a 4-band master EQ make the MODEL 16 ready for small live shows, rehearsals, worship events, spoken word, podcasts and studio production.

Multitrack recording made simple
Insert an SD card, arm the channels with their REC buttons and press record: the MODEL 16 captures up to 16 tracks at once, including the stereo main mix, which is always recorded. Punch in to fix a part by hand, set automatic punch in/out points with pre-roll and rehearsal, or connect the optional TASCAM RC-1F footswitch to punch in hands-free. Undo and redo, marks, track import and clearing, and mixdown to a new stereo file are all handled on the unit itself.
Live, computer or recorder on every channel
Each channel's MODE switch selects its source: LIVE for the input jacks, PC for audio from the computer, or MTR for playback from the SD card. Some channels can carry live musicians while others play recorded tracks or backing tracks from a computer, all at the same time. In MTR mode, monitoring switches automatically between input and playback as you record and play back.
USB audio interface
Connect a computer over USB 2.0 to send all 14 channels plus the main mix to your recording software at up to 24-bit / 48 kHz, and return up to 14 channels to the mixer. The TASCAM Model Mixer Settings Panel adds the Windows driver, buffer settings and a scalable digital meter bridge for input, SD track and USB signals. A STEREO MIX USB mode sends just the main mix to streaming and communication applications, and the MODEL 16 can transmit MIDI time code so a DAW follows its recorder.
Mixing, routing and effects
Two monitor sends feed stage wedges or headphone mixes, with a POST switch for post-fader sends on MON 2, and an FX send drives the 16 built-in effects or an external processor. The sub bus provides an extra stereo output that can also be returned to the main mix. The 4-band semi-parametric master EQ, with wide and narrow sweepable mids, can be applied to the main outputs or to the MON 1/2 outputs.
Bluetooth and stereo inputs
Pair a phone, tablet or computer to play music wirelessly into the stereo 13/14 channel, or connect a CD player to the RCA jacks or a portable device to the 3.5 mm stereo mini jack. WAV files copied to the SD card can also be played back in SD PLAY mode, ideal for walk-in music and interval breaks.

TASCAM MODEL 16: frequently asked questions
How many tracks can the MODEL 16 record at once?
Up to 16 tracks: all 14 input channels plus the stereo main mix, recorded as WAV (BWF) files at 44.1 or 48 kHz, 16 or 24-bit, to SD, SDHC or SDXC cards (Class 10 or higher).
Can I use it as an audio interface with my computer?
Yes. Over USB 2.0 it sends 16 channels to the computer and receives 14, at up to 24-bit / 48 kHz. Windows uses the TASCAM driver (ASIO 2.0 and WDM); a Mac uses the standard Core Audio driver, with the TASCAM Settings Panel recommended for update notifications and the meter bridge.
Does it work without a computer?
Yes. The MODEL 16 is a complete mixer and recorder on its own: record, overdub, punch in, mix down and play back directly from the SD card, then transfer the files to a computer whenever you like.
Can I stream or podcast with it?
Yes. Switch the USB audio mode to STEREO MIX to send the main mix to streaming or communication software as a 2-channel device, and turn on POST REC so the MAIN fader controls the streamed level.
Where can I buy the TASCAM MODEL 16 in India?
