Product overview
The XVIVE XV1-R Portable Stereo Recorder is a compact, light handheld recorder with custom X/Y stereo microphones, intuitive menus and record-ready factory settings that make recording easy.
Carry it to gigs, rehearsals, meetings, concerts or a songwriting retreat. The XV1-R records up to 96 kHz audio in 24-bit or 32-bit float WAV, or compact AAC-LC / HE-AAC files, directly to microSD cards from 2 GB to 128 GB. Its microphones handle up to 130 dB SPL, a 3.5 mm Mic / Line input with plug-in power takes external microphones or line sources, and USB-C connects it to a computer for file transfer or as an audio interface. Two AA batteries give about 12 hours of operation.

Time-saving recording profiles
Five presets cover common recording scenarios: Production (lossless 32-bit float WAV for pristine music and media), General (high quality AAC for ambient, voice or music), Meeting (efficient stereo AAC with limiter, compressor, lowcut and gate for meetings and lectures), Voice Memo (minimum file size mono speech with prerecord) and Concert (transparent AAC of music with auto level). Selecting a profile sets all recording effects and settings at once.
Onboard effects and recording settings
Lowcut (80, 100 or 120 Hz) removes rumble and handling noise, Gate filters out background noise, Compressor evens out volume spikes and Limiter keeps the loudest sounds from clipping. Auto Record starts recording at a set threshold, Prerecord keeps 2.5 seconds from before the record button is pressed, Auto Level adjusts the gain for loud, constant noise, and a 20 dB mic pad and a recording time limit are available.
Overdub, playback and speaker
Overdub records on top of an existing recording: add a harmony, a commentary or several layers to demo a song. Playback offers repeat modes, fast forward / rewind steps, marks and a play rate from 0.5 to 1.5 times. The on-board speaker checks recordings when no headphones are at hand and mutes when the line out is used.
Audio for video
A tripod socket on the underside mounts the XV1-R on tripods or on top of a DSLR camera, where it records high-quality stereo sound for video and generates slate tones that help sync audio and video accurately in editing. Electret lavalier microphones with a 3.5 mm TRS plug connect to the Mic / Line input.
