Product overview

The ART ProMix is a three channel microphone mixer for connecting several microphones to a larger mixer that has only a single input available, powered by the included adaptor or by two 9 V batteries.

Each channel has an independent level control and switches to activate phantom power and a high-pass filter. The mixed signal is sent to a 1/4 inch headphone / auxiliary output and a balanced XLR line output. For additional flexibility it can be powered by the included adaptor or two 9 V batteries for mobile applications. The ProMix is a compact, convenient solution that can be used on its own in smaller setups or to extend the connectivity of a larger system.

Key features

  • 3 low impedance XLR mic channels with 3 level controls
  • 3 phantom power on / off DIP switches
  • 3 low-frequency cut on / off DIP switches (-3 dB at 100 Hz)
  • Low impedance balanced XLR line output
  • Mono 1/4 inch phones / aux output
  • Clip LED that fires 3 dB below the onset of clipping
  • On / off power switch with LED
  • 12 V DC adaptor included; optional 2 x 9 V battery power

Phantom power and low cut

Each channel has a phantom power DIP switch for microphones that need it: on the 12 V DC adaptor the ProMix supplies 12 V phantom power, and on two 9 V batteries 18 V. A low cut switch per channel rolls off the low frequencies (-3 dB at 100 Hz) to avoid rumble and thumps; ART suggests it for all microphones except those for bass drum, bass guitar amplifier, upright bass or keyboard amplifier.

Outputs

The balanced male XLR output connects to a mic input of a mixer with a low impedance mic cable. The Phones / Aux jack takes headphones or can feed the unbalanced input of an amplifier or another mixer. The Clip LED fires 3 dB below the onset of clipping, so a little activity on occasional peaks is acceptable.
