Product overview
The ECLER ETH232AD is a TCP/IP to serial converter that allows bidirectional transparent transmission between RS-232/422/485 and Ethernet, configured from its own setting web page.
The ETH232AD brings serial-controlled equipment onto an IP network. A 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port on RJ45 sits on one end; a DB-9 male RS-232 port and a 6-pin Euroblock RS-422/485 port sit on the other. Serial and network parameters are set in any web browser, and together with ECLER's network management software the ETH232AD becomes a versatile serial interface controlled from customised user control panels (UCP).
| RS‑232 / 422 / 485 | 3‑in‑1 |
| Ethernet on RJ45 | 10/100 Mbps |
| Power input | 9‑24 VDC |
| Weight | 0.5 kg |

From a network command to a serial command
A button on a customised user control panel sends a TCP text command to the ETH232AD, which translates it into a serial command for the connected device. The user manual shows the example of muting an ECLER CA series amplifier with the commands SET MUTE ON and SET MUTE OFF, with the serial port set to 9600 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit and RS-232, and the network set to TCP server on port 5000. Any other RS-232 device can be controlled in the same way.
Simple web configuration
The unit leaves the factory with the IP address 192.168.0.232 (192.168.1.100 for units of batch G1005). Serial settings cover device name, baud rate (RS-232 1200-115200 bps, RS-422/485 1200-921600 bps), parity, data bits, stop bits, flow control and serial type. Network settings cover DHCP, IP address, mask, gateway, DNS, TCP or UDP, keep alive, transmit timer, server or client mode and listening port. Firmware is upgraded from a TFTP server, and access can be limited to up to 4 IP addresses.
Compact and easy to install
The metal enclosure measures 100 x 67 x 26 mm (100 x 86 x 26 mm with its mounting ears) and weighs 0.5 kg. It works from -25 °C to 70 °C, and power can come from the supplied adapter or from 9-24 VDC on the Euroblock connector.
In the box
- 1 x ETH232AD serial interface
- 1 x 9 VDC 1 A international power supply
- 1 x 6-pin Euroblock connector
- 1 x quick start and warranty sheet
