Product overview
The ELECTRO-VOICE EVID C8.1S G2 is a complete 8-inch ceiling subwoofer from the EVID Ceiling G2 series: 45 Hz to 380 Hz, 360° omnidirectional coverage, a front-baffle tap selector for 70 V / 100 V lines (up to 60 W) or 8 Ω bypass, and SwiftLock mounting for quick, safe installation in a 322 mm cutout.
An 8-inch subwoofer in a tuned high-performance enclosure gives low-frequency performance down to 45 Hz: one of the few quick-mount true ceiling subwoofers, and the ideal mate to any EVID G2 ceiling model. It is designed for passive, full-range systems: bi-amplification is not required. It shares the 322 mm mounting hole and grille of the EVID C6.2LP G2 and EVID C8.2HC G2.

SwiftLock mounting
Push the subwoofer into the ceiling hole until the front baffle is flush and the mounting tabs click: it holds itself in place, leaving both hands free to tighten the tabs (no more than 1.35 Nm). The wiring sits on the side, which reduces the clearance needed above the ceiling and keeps the connection easy to reach from below or from a neighbouring tile.
Taps at the front baffle
The transformer offers 3.75 W (70 V only) up to 60 W on 70 V or 100 V lines, or 8 Ω bypass for low-impedance amplifiers, selected by a switch on the front baffle. In distributed systems the grilles can be left off until the final level balance has been set.
Ceiling hardware and wiring
Tile rails and a C-ring are included: in suspended ceilings the rails rest over the T-grid (24-inch or 600 mm tiles) and hold the assembly even if a tile fails; in plasterboard the C-ring alone spreads the pressure of the tabs. The removable 4-pin connector can be pre-wired and supports parallel or daisy-chain wiring to further units.
Placing the subwoofer
The EVID C8.1S G2 relies on the ceiling and walls to load it and reinforce its bass. In a smaller room with one subwoofer, a centre or near-centre position gives the most even coverage; in larger rooms, spread several evenly a few feet from walls or corners. It is designed for passive, full-range systems: bi-amplification is not required.
