Product overview

The ELECTRO-VOICE EVID C8.2HC G2 is a complete 8-inch coaxial two-way for high ceilings ceiling loudspeaker from the EVID Ceiling G2 series: 60 Hz to 20 kHz, 75° conical coverage, a front-baffle tap selector for 70 V / 100 V lines (up to 90 W) or 8 Ω bypass, and SwiftLock mounting for quick, safe installation in a 322 mm cutout.

Excellent bandwidth in a clean, unobtrusive, rimless design. The 8-inch ring-aperture-loaded woofer and fully waveguide-loaded 1-inch titanium tweeter give a highly controlled coverage pattern with high sensitivity, ideal for high ceilings or anywhere high output in a tighter pattern is needed: gymnasiums, convention centres, atriums and other large, live spaces. It shares the 322 mm mounting hole and grille of the EVID C6.2LP G2 and the EVID C8.1S G2 subwoofer.

sensitivity (1 W / 1 m) 95 dB
maximum SPL (peak) 124 dB

Key features

  • 8-inch coaxial two-way for high ceilings: 8" (200 mm) ring-aperture-loaded woofer and 1" titanium tweeter, fully waveguide-loaded; point-source design for uniform off-axis coverage
  • SwiftLock mounting (4-point): push in until the tabs click, then tighten
  • Bezel-less design with easy-attach magnetic grille and safety tether
  • Front-baffle tap selector: 90 W; 45 W; 22.5 W; 11.25 W; 5.6 W at 70 V; 90 W; 45 W; 22.5 W; 11.25 W at 100 V; 8 Ω bypass
  • Side terminal cover with removable 4-pin connector and pass-through, wire up to 12 AWG / 3.3 mm²
  • Tile rails and C-ring included for suspended and plasterboard ceilings; cutout template and paint covers in the box
  • UL 1480A, UL 2043 (air-handling spaces), CSA C22.2 No. 205 and IEC 62368-1 certified
  • Semi-gloss white powder-coated steel grille (RAL 9003), UL 94V-0 ABS baffle, heavy-gauge coated steel back can

SwiftLock mounting

Push the loudspeaker into the ceiling hole until the front baffle is flush and the mounting tabs click: it holds itself in place, leaving both hands free to tighten the tabs (no more than 1.35 Nm). The wiring sits on the side, which reduces the clearance needed above the ceiling and keeps the connection easy to reach from below or from a neighbouring tile.

Taps at the front baffle

The transformer offers 5.6 W (70 V only) up to 90 W on 70 V or 100 V lines, or 8 Ω bypass for low-impedance amplifiers, selected by a switch on the front baffle. In distributed systems the grilles can be left off until the final level balance has been set.

Ceiling hardware and wiring

Tile rails and a C-ring are included: in suspended ceilings the rails rest over the T-grid (24-inch or 600 mm tiles) and hold the assembly even if a tile fails; in plasterboard the C-ring alone spreads the pressure of the tabs. The removable 4-pin connector can be pre-wired and supports parallel or daisy-chain wiring to further units.

Coverage by ceiling height

Effective coverage diameter at a 1.2 m (4 ft) listening height: 8 ft ceiling 6 ft; 12 ft ceiling 12 ft; 16 ft ceiling 18 ft; 20 ft ceiling 25 ft; 24 ft ceiling 31 ft (installation manual).

In the box

  • 2 x ceiling loudspeaker
  • 2 x loudspeaker connection cover (installed)
  • 2 x magnetic grille
  • 4 x ceiling tile rail
  • 2 x C-ring
  • 4 x screw
