Product overview

The ELECTRO-VOICE EVID EC6.2E is a 6.5-inch coaxial two-way EVAC ceiling loudspeaker from the EVID Entry Ceiling range: 110° conical coverage, 85 Hz - 20 kHz (-10 dB), a front-baffle tap switch for 70 V / 100 V lines or 8 Ω bypass, and a bezel-less magnetic grille.

The EVID-EC6.2E is a complete 6.5-inch coaxial two-way loudspeaker that offers excellent sound quality and outstanding reliability with first-class aesthetics. It carries a 110° conical pattern with 30 W continuous handling and is certified to UL 1480, UL 1480A, EN54-24:2008, UL 2043, CAN/ULC 541:2023, CSA C22.2 No. 205 and IEC 62368-1 for voice-evacuation duty. A switch on the front baffle selects 30, 15, 7.5 or 3.75 W on 70 V or 100 V lines (plus 1.88 W on 70 V), or 8 Ω bypass, and the EVID install kit makes the drop-in fast. Bezel-less magnetic white grille, back can, tile rails and mounting ring are included, packaged in pairs.

Key features

  • Bezel-less design with easy-attach magnetic grille
  • Front baffle wattage tap adjustment
  • Includes tile rail and C-ring for easy installation
  • 4-pin Euroblock input with pass-through, up to 12 AWG / 3.3 mm² wire
  • UL 1480, UL 1480A, EN54-24:2008, UL 2043, CAN/ULC 541:2023, CSA C22.2 No. 205 and IEC 62368-1 certified
  • Low-profile heavy-gauge steel back can, 149 mm mounting depth
  • Terminal cover for fire installations; secondary safety point on the back can

Front-baffle tap selection

The line transformer delivers 1.88 (70 V only), 3.75, 7.5, 15 or 30 W to the loudspeaker on 70 V or 100 V lines, or it is bypassed for 8 Ω operation. The selector sits on the front baffle, so the level can be set or changed after installation: in some constant-voltage installations the grilles are left off until the final level balance is made.

Fast, secure ceiling installation

Cut a 272 mm hole with the cutout template or a circular cutter. In suspended tile ceilings the C-ring and two pre-punched tile rails spread the load over the T-grid; in sheetrock the C-ring alone reinforces the ceiling. Mounting tabs grip ceilings 12.5 to 38 mm thick, tightened to a maximum of 1.35 Nm, and a secondary safety cable attaches to the safety point on the back.

Side terminal with pass-through

A side terminal cover gives access to a removable 4-pin Euroblock that can be pre-wired and takes up to 12 AWG / 3.3 mm² wire. Speakers can be wired in parallel (pins 2 and 3) or daisy-chained (pins 1 and 4), and a strain relief fitting holds the cable; it can be swapped for a listed flexible conduit fitting through the 22 mm knockout.

Certified for voice evacuation

The EVID-EC6.2E is certified to UL 1480, UL 1480A, EN54-24:2008 (Type A), UL 2043, CAN/ULC 541:2023, CSA C22.2 No. 205 and IEC 62368-1. In fire installations the terminal cover must be used, the speaker must not be painted and it is not intended for DC-supervised systems; connect it with flexible conduit or wiring only. For EN54-24 installations EV recommends a PEQ at 152 Hz, Q 2.0, -5.0 dB.

ELECTRO-VOICE EVID EC6.2E: frequently asked questions

Is it for 70 V / 100 V systems or low impedance?

Both. The front-baffle switch selects the 70 V or 100 V taps (30 / 15 / 7.5 / 3.75 / 1.88 W on 70 V) or 8 Ω bypass for low-impedance amplifiers.

What size hole does it need?

A 272 mm cutout, in ceilings 12.5 to 38 mm thick, with 149 mm mounting depth.

How many speakers come in one pack?

ELECTRO-VOICE packages the EVID-EC ceiling loudspeakers in pairs; the pack includes two grilles, the C-rings, tile rails, screws and the cutout template.

Can several speakers share one line?

Yes. The 4-pin Euroblock has a pass-through: wire the next speaker in parallel on pins 2 and 3, or daisy-chain it on pins 1 and 4.

Where can I buy the ELECTRO-VOICE EVID EC6.2E in India?

The ELECTRO-VOICE EVID EC6.2E is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.

Workflow 1: Background music in voice evacuation

Voice evacuation with a 100 V or 70 V music system.

Connections

ConnectTo
100 V / 70 V amplifier outputEuroblock input (pins 2 and 3)
Pins 1 and 4Next speaker

Setup

  1. Lay out the grid from ceiling height and coverage angle.
  2. Set the tap on each front baffle for the level wanted.
  3. Install with C-ring and tile rails.
  4. Fit the magnetic grilles.

Tip: Leave the grilles off until the final level balance if levels may change.

Workflow 2: Paging and announcements

Public buildings that need clear speech everywhere.

Connections

ConnectTo
Paging amplifierSpeaker line

Setup

  1. Choose square or hexagonal spacing with minimum overlap.
  2. Set matching taps on all speakers on the zone.
  3. Wire in parallel so a removed plug does not drop the rest.
  4. Check the sum of taps against the amplifier rating.

Tip: Parallel wiring keeps later speakers connected if one input connector is removed.

Workflow 3: Suspended tile ceiling

Installers working in drop ceilings with mineral-wool or fibre tiles.

Connections

ConnectTo
C‑ring + tile railsT‑grid

Setup

  1. Cut the 272 mm hole with the template.
  2. Fit the C-ring and snap in the tile rails.
  3. Fix the rails with the screws.
  4. Push the speaker in and tighten the tabs (max. 1.35 Nm).

Tip: If a tile fails, the rail ends fall onto the T-grid and hold the speaker.

Workflow 4: Sheetrock ceiling

Fixed plasterboard ceilings.

Connections

ConnectTo
C‑ringBack of the ceiling board

Setup

  1. Cut the hole.
  2. Place the C-ring behind the hole.
  3. Attach a secondary safety cable with 25-150 mm slack.
  4. Push in the speaker and tighten the mounting tabs.

Tip: The C-ring spreads the pressure of the hold-down tabs.

Workflow 5: Low-impedance system

Small rooms driven by a conventional amplifier.

Connections

ConnectTo
Amplifier outputEuroblock input, 8 Ω bypass

Setup

  1. Set the switch to 8 Ω bypass.
  2. Apply the 70 Hz, 24 dB/octave high-pass filter.
  3. Wire with correct polarity.
  4. Set levels at the amplifier.

Tip: Out-of-polarity speakers lose low frequencies: check polarity if bass is thin.

Workflow 6: Voice evacuation zone

Life-safety systems needing certified speakers.

Connections

ConnectTo
Voice alarm amplifierEuroblock input with terminal cover

Setup

  1. Use flexible conduit or wiring only.
  2. Fit the terminal cover.
