Product overview

The GENELEC 4410A is the most compact Smart IP installation loudspeaker: when space is tight it delivers the single cable networked convenience of Smart IP in a powerful, super-compact format.

This bi-amplified two-way active loudspeaker for fixed installations needs only one CAT cable for PoE+ power, audio-over-IP and management. It plays AES67, ST2110-30 and Dante streams, delivers 96 dB of short-term SPL from its 18 W + 18 W Class D amplifiers and offers extraordinary coverage, clarity and intelligibility. The recycled die-cast aluminium enclosure is manufactured in Finland using certified sustainable methods; finishes Black, White and RAW, or any of 120 RAL colours on custom order.

Single-cable Smart IP connectivity

Smart IP is GENELEC's scalable open IP networking platform: the 4410A receives Power over Ethernet, audio-over-IP and management through one standard CAT cable, using the building's existing IT infrastructure. Uncompressed low-latency streams play directly in each loudspeaker, synchronised to sub-microsecond level for solid acoustic imaging, and the number of loudspeakers and channels in a system is almost unlimited.

PoE+ power with stored energy

Proprietary internal power management stores energy for audio peaks, so the 4410A reaches high SPL from a standard PoE+ port (IEEE 802.3at, 30 W at the switch). It also works with PoE (IEEE 802.3af), with shorter time at maximum output. Power level negotiation with the switch or injector is automatic.

GENELEC acoustic design

The die-cast aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) and the Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) give smooth, controlled directivity (130° horizontal, 110° vertical), clarity and intelligibility even in acoustically challenging spaces. Active crossover, one Class D amplifier per driver and protection circuitry are built in. The 4410A has no analogue input: audio arrives as a network stream.

Smart IP Manager, API and Controller app

Smart IP Manager gives installers device discovery, zones, up to five profiles per zone, delay, sensitivity and 20 filters per loudspeaker, and status monitoring. A public API with ready-made drivers connects house automation systems, and the free Smart IP Controller app gives end users volume, mute and power per zone.

Mounting

Two M6 threads (8.5 mm deep) on the rear take the supplied bracket and GENELEC wall, ceiling and truss mounts; a 3/8 in UNC thread in the base gives additional support on stands. Keep at least 3 cm free behind, above and on both sides.

In the box

  • 1 x GENELEC 4410A Smart IP installation speaker
  • 1 x simple bracket
  • 1 x mounting screw set

GENELEC 4410A: frequently asked questions

How is the 4410A powered?

Over its CAT cable from an IP switch with PoE+ outputs (IEEE 802.3at), or from a PoE+ power injector with a standard switch. It also works with PoE (IEEE 802.3af); GENELEC recommends PoE+ for the full output.

How do I set up and control a 4410A system?

Installers use GENELEC's free Smart IP Manager software for device discovery, zones, levels, delay and room equalisation. Day-to-day control is through the public API from a house automation system, or the free Smart IP Controller app on a smartphone or tablet.

Does the 4410A have an analogue input?

No. The 4410A takes its audio as an AES67, ST2110-30 or Dante stream over the network. The larger 4420A and 4430A add a balanced Euroblock analogue input.

How do I reset the 4410A?

Hold the power button for more than 10 seconds and keep the CAT cable connected until the reset is complete, typically within a minute.

Where can I buy the GENELEC 4410A in India?

The GENELEC 4410A is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.

Workflow 1: Single-cable networked installation

Install 4410A units where only a CAT cable can be run.

Connections

ConnectTo
PoE+ IP switch portRJ45 Ethernet port of each 4410A (CAT 5 or better, up to 100 m)
Audio source on the networkAES67 or Dante stream
Installer computerSame network, running Smart IP Manager

Setup

  1. Connect each 4410A to its own PoE+ switch port (star topology, no daisy-chaining of network ports).
  2. Power up the loudspeaker with its power switch; PoE+ power is negotiated automatically.
  3. Route the stream channels to the units in the network audio routing software.
  4. Discover the units in Smart IP Manager and assign them to zones.

Tip: Use gigabit managed switches with QoS, and budget 30 W per PoE+ port within the switch's total PoE capacity.

Workflow 2: Long cable runs and standard switches

Power loudspeakers through PoE+ injectors where the switch has no PoE.

Connections

ConnectTo
Standard IP switchData input of a PoE+ power injector
PoE+ power injector4410A Ethernet port

Setup

  1. Place one PoE+ injector per unit, close to the loudspeaker for long runs.
  2. Connect the switch to the injector and the injector to the unit.
  3. Check that each injector supplies full PoE+ power.
  4. Configure streams and zones as usual.

Tip: Cable loss is about 25 mW per metre; injectors near the loudspeakers keep more power available for audio peaks.

Workflow 3: Zones and profiles in Smart IP Manager

Organise many loudspeakers into zones that work as one system.

Connections

ConnectTo
Smart IP ManagerAll Smart IP units on the network

Setup

  1. Create zones and drag the units into them.
  2. Set mute and zone level with the - and + buttons.
  3. Store up to five profiles per zone with acoustic settings, input selection, level and delay.
  4. Recall a profile to change the whole zone at once.

Tip: Settings are stored inside each unit for instant recall, even after a power cut.

Workflow 4: Room equalisation and alignment

Compensate room acoustics and align loudspeakers.

Connections

ConnectTo
Smart IP Manager, Acoustics tabSelected unit or group
Measurement microphone and toolListening area

Setup

  1. Start from the factory setting (flat anechoic response).
  2. Set delay (0-98 ms) and sensitivity (-60 to 0 dB) to align the units.
  3. Use the 20 filters (notch, shelves, bass roll-off, bass tilt, treble tilt) against room colouration.
  4. Confirm by careful listening with known recordings.

Tip: Positive filter gain is possible: use it with care to keep headroom.

Workflow 5: Control by automation system or app

Give end users simple day-to-day control.

Connections

ConnectTo
House automation or control systemPublic Smart IP API over the network
Smartphone or tabletSmart IP Controller app over WiFi

Setup

  1. Integrate the units with the public API and GENELEC's ready-made drivers.
  2. Or install the free Smart IP Controller app for smaller installations.
  3. Give users volume, mute and power on/off per zone.
  4. Recall stored settings for different uses of the space.

Tip: ISS can power the units down when idle and wake them on an API command or an audio stream.

Workflow 6: Compact loudspeakers in tight spaces

Small rooms, shelves, display areas and exhibitions.

Connections

ConnectTo
Supplied bracket or GENELEC mountTwo M6 rear threads
CAT cableRJ45 Ethernet port

Setup

  1. Choose the mount: supplied bracket, GENELEC wall, ceiling, truss mount, table or floor stand.
  2. Aim the acoustic axis at the listening area; keep 3 cm free around the unit.
  3. Connect the CAT cable and press the power switch.
  4. Assign the stream channel and level in Smart IP Manager.

Tip: In finished interiors choose Black, White, RAW or one of 120 RAL colours on custom order to match the space.
