Product overview
The NEUMANN KH 310 A is a three-way, tri-amplified active nearfield studio monitor with a dedicated midrange dome, a sealed cabinet and a Mathematically Modelled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide: expanded midrange precision and a dry bass sound.
With its specially designed midrange driver, the compact KH 310 is particularly suited for precise work with speech, vocals, guitars and other instruments that have a midrange emphasis. Its closed design enables a very fast transient response, and the associated low harmonic distortion guarantees a neutral reference sound. Thermally protected Class AB amplifiers deliver 210 W and two times 90 W. It comes in a left-hand and a right-hand version.
| Free‑field response (±3 dB) | 34 Hz - 21 kHz |
| Tri‑amplified, Class AB | 210 + 90 + 90 W |
| Max. SPL, half space, 3 % THD at 1 m | 116.3 dB |
| Closed cabinet, low group delay | Sealed |
Key features
- Dedicated midrange driver: 75 mm fabric dome with neodymium magnet and low stray field, for speech and vocals
- Sealed cabinet: lower group delay, precisely controlled transients
- Bass down to 34 Hz and up to 116.3 dB SPL
- In-house simulated alloy fabric dome tweeter with metal grille in an elliptical MMD waveguide
- Long-throw woofer with ELFF, magnetic shielding and die-cast basket
- 4-position bass, low-mid and treble acoustical controls; dimmable two-colour logo; ground lift
- Universal switched-mode power supply (100 - 240 V)
- Any KH 310 is pair-matched to any other KH 310 thanks to individual hand alignment
A solid bass foundation, high impulse fidelity
With its powerful switched-mode power supply and tri-channel amplifiers, the KH 310 reaches up to 116.3 dB while keeping a high-resolution, neutral reproduction across the whole frequency range, with bass down to 34 Hz. For most applications the bass extension is enough to work cleanly on the mix without a supplementary subwoofer, and the closed cabinet reproduces almost the entire frequency range at the same time.
Ultralight midrange dome
The fabric midrange dome captures the middle frequencies with utmost precision: its ultralight material and powerful neodymium magnet give a significantly better transient response with considerably less distortion. The alloy fabric dome tweeter ensures distortion-free clarity in the treble.
Applications
Nearfield applications in project, music, broadcast and post-production studios for recording, mixing and mastering, as front loudspeaker in mid-sized multichannel systems, as rear loudspeaker in larger ones and in OB vans. Connected to a KH 750 DSP subwoofer, it can be included in MA 1 room correction.

NEUMANN KH 310 A: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the left and right versions?
The driver layout is mirrored. Neumann notes that a left can also be used in the right position and vice versa, and both can be used as a centre loudspeaker.
Is the KH 310 A ported?
No. It has a sealed (closed) cabinet, which gives a lower group delay and precisely controlled transients.
Which acoustical controls does it have?
Bass 0 to -7.5 dB, low-mid 0 to -4.5 dB and treble +1 to -2 dB, each in four steps.
What is the recommended listening distance?
1.0 to 2.5 m (feasible 0.75 to 6.0 m).
Where can I buy the NEUMANN KH 310 A in India?
The NEUMANN KH 310 A is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
Workflow 1: Vocal and speech mixing
Engineers working on vocals, dialogue and voice-over.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Interface outputs L / R | XLR inputs of a left and a right KH 310 A |
Setup
- Place the left version on the left and the right version on the right, at ±30°.
- Point the acoustical axis at the listener.
- Set bass, low-mid and treble for the room.
- Set the level.
Tip: The dedicated midrange dome is made for speech and vocals.
Workflow 2: Nearfield mixing and mastering
Music studios that want bass without a subwoofer.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Mixer or interface outputs | KH 310 A inputs |
Setup
- Set up the pair at 1.0 - 2.5 m.
- Use the acoustical control starting points of the manual.
- Calibrate with pink noise.
- Mix and master.
Tip: Bass extension to 34 Hz is enough for most applications without a subwoofer.
Workflow 3: Setting the acoustic level
Anyone calibrating a monitoring level.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Sound level meter | Listening position |
Setup
- Set OUTPUT LEVEL to 94 dB SPL and INPUT GAIN to -15 dB.
- Play pink noise at -18 dBFS (Europe) or -20 dBFS (USA).
- Measure at the listening position with a C-weighted, slow sound level meter.
- Set OUTPUT LEVEL and INPUT GAIN for the desired level.
Tip: Film: 85 dB(C); broadcast: 79 to 83 dB(C).
Workflow 4: Adding a KH 750 DSP subwoofer
Rooms that want room correction for analog monitors.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Source | KH 750 DSP inputs |
| KH 750 DSP analog outputs | KH 310 A inputs |
Setup
- Connect the KH 310 A pair to the subwoofer outputs.
- Activate bass management.
- Run the MA 1 automatic alignment through the subwoofer.
- Fine-tune levels.
Tip: The subwoofer's DSP makes MA 1 room correction available to the analog KH 310 A.
Workflow 5: Multichannel post production
Post and broadcast rooms.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| Monitor controller outputs | KH 310 A per channel |
