Product overview

The SONODYNE SIC 3261 is a high performance 2 way dual concentric in-ceiling speaker with a rimless, magnetic grille, built for high sonic performance with music.

Its 6 inch coaxial speaker covers 50 Hz to 21 kHz (-10 dB) with a sensitivity of 93 dB (1 W, 1 m, half space) and reaches 107 dB at its rated power of 30 W. The SIC 3261 runs in both LMT and direct modes: four transformer taps for 100 V lines (3.8, 7.5, 15, 30 W) and 70 V lines (1.9, 3.75, 7.5, 15 W), or 8 Ω direct with 60 W power handling. It fixes into a 205 mm ceiling cut-out with a twist lock.

SPL at rated power (30 W) 107 dB
Frequency range (-10 dB) 50 Hz - 21 kHz
Power handling, 8 Ω 60 W
At 100 V and 70 V (LMT) 4 taps

Key features

  • 2 way dual concentric transducers: 1 x 6 inch coaxial speaker
  • Both LMT and direct modes
  • High sonic performance for music: 50 Hz - 21 kHz
  • Rimless magnetic grille
  • Twist lock fixing with four adjusting screws
  • 100 V taps 3.8 / 7.5 / 15 / 30 W; 70 V taps 1.9 / 3.75 / 7.5 / 15 W
  • 205 mm cut-out, 236 mm outer diameter, white

Dual concentric driver

The 6 inch coaxial speaker places both drivers on one axis. It covers 50 Hz to 21 kHz (-10 dB), with 93 dB sensitivity (1 W, 1 m, half space) and 107 dB SPL at the rated 30 W.

Rimless magnetic grille

The grille is held by magnets and has no visible rim. It is removed for installation and fitted back into the speaker afterwards, as the owner's manual shows.

LMT and direct modes

A line matching transformer gives four taps on a 5-pin push-type terminal at the rear: COM (black) plus green, yellow, blue and white wires for 1.9, 3.75, 7.5 and 15 W at 70 V, or 3.8, 7.5, 15 and 30 W at 100 V. In direct mode the speaker is 8 Ω with 60 W power handling. The owner's manual adds an impedance table per tap and a schematic.

Mounting with twist lock

The owner's manual describes the installation: make a 205 mm cut-out, connect COM and the chosen tap observing polarity, remove the magnetic grille, slide the speaker through the cut-out with the magnet facing upward, tighten the four adjusting screws so the dog-ears pull firmly against the ceiling (without over-tightening) and fit the grille back. Outer dimensions are 107 mm depth by 236 mm diameter; net weight is 1.5 kg.
