Product overview
The SONODYNE SPA 1210 is a versatile 2 way active professional speaker with a 10 inch low frequency woofer and a 1 inch throat compression driver. Its rigid trapezoidal polypropylene enclosure supports portable use, fixed installation and stage monitor applications.
A 1 inch throat compression driver with a 1.35 inch voice coil and a 10 inch woofer with a 2.5 inch voice coil, with an active crossover at 2.2 kHz, give a smooth, wide frequency response from 65 Hz - 17 kHz (range 55 Hz - 18 kHz). The bi-amped amplifier delivers 200 W continuous and 400 W program, the maximum SPL in half space reaches 120 dB continuous and 126 dB peak, and coverage is 90° x 50°. Two mic / line inputs, a mix output, gain, master level and HF / LF contour switches sit on the rear amplifier panel.
| Peak SPL (half space) | 126 dB |
| Continuous, bi‑amped (400 W program) | 200 W |
| Directivity (H x V) | 90° x 50° |
| Inputs, with mix out | 2 x mic / line |
Key features
- High performance 2 way active speaker with 10 inch woofer and 1 inch throat compression driver (1.35 inch VC)
- Bi-amped power: 200 W continuous, 400 W program
- Smooth, wide frequency response: 65 Hz - 17 kHz
- High sensitivity: 126 dB maximum SPL
- 2 x mic / line inputs with mix out, gain and master level
- HF and LF contour switches (+5 dB shelving)
- Portable and rigid PP enclosure, wedge type shape for use as a stage monitor

Rigid PP enclosure
The enclosure is industrial grade polypropylene in black, with a trapezoidal form factor so the SPA 1210 can also be used as a stage monitor. It measures 305 x 500 x 310 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 11.1 kg.
Transducers and coverage
The HF section is a 1 inch throat compression driver with a 1.35 inch voice coil; the LF section is a 10 inch woofer with a 2.5 inch voice coil, rated 250 W AES in the SPA 1200 Series literature. The active crossover point is 2.2 kHz and the directivity is 90° horizontal by 50° vertical.
Amplifier panel, inputs and controls
Two MIC/LINE inputs can each be used as either mic or line, with their own gain control (range 55 dB, +30 dB to -25 dB, 0 dB at centre). A master level control runs from -∞ to 0 dB, and the mix of both inputs is available at MIX OUT. The HF contour switch adds a +5 dB high shelf (corner frequencies 1 kHz and 13 kHz) and the LF contour switch a +5 dB low shelf (break points at 1 kHz and 80 Hz). Protection covers overload, short circuit, overheat and mains overvoltage.
Mounting options
3 x M8 inserts on top, 2 x M8 inserts on bottom and 1 x M8 insert at back, for flying. The bottom carries a twin 35 mm pole mount, and four plastic legs let the speaker stand on the floor.
The SPA 1200 Series
SONODYNE builds the SPA Series in active, passive and weatherised versions. The active SPA 1200 Series has four models: SPA 1208 (8 inch), SPA 1210 (10 inch), SPA 1212 (12 inch) and SPA 1215 (15 inch), all 2 way ported systems with a 1 inch throat compression driver, 2 x MIC/LINE inputs, 2 x gain controls and 1 master level.

SONODYNE SPA 1210: frequently asked questions
Is the SPA 1210 active or passive?
Active. It is a bi-amped 2 way speaker with 200 W continuous and 400 W program output power, so it needs no external power amplifier.
Can I connect a microphone directly?
Yes. Both inputs are MIC/LINE inputs that can be used as either mic or line, each with its own gain control.
Can it be used as a stage monitor?
Yes. The wedge type shape allows use as a stage monitor; SONODYNE names it ideal for mains, fills, stage monitors and FRFR monitors.
How can it be mounted?
On a 35 mm pole or stand through the twin pole mount, flown using the M8 inserts (3 x M8 inserts on top, 2 x M8 inserts on bottom and 1 x M8 insert at back), or standing on its four plastic legs.
