The SONODYNE SPA 1312 is a 2 way passive speaker with a 12 inch woofer and a 1 inch throat compression driver for indoor and outdoor use. It is weatherised to IP44 and has both direct and LMT inputs, with 100 V and 70 V power taps.

A 1 inch throat compression driver with a 1.75 inch voice coil and a 12 inch woofer with a 2.5 inch voice coil, crossed over at 1.5 kHz, give a smooth, wide frequency response from 60 Hz - 17 kHz (range 50 Hz - 18 kHz). The SPA 1312 handles 400 W continuous, 800 W program and 1600 W peak, reaches 122 dB continuous and 128 dB peak in half space and covers 90° x 50°. Power taps of 300 W, 150 W, 75 W, 37.5 W at 100 V and 150 W, 75 W, 37.5 W, 18.8 W at 70 V are provided, and the rigid PP enclosure is fitted with handles for lifting.

Weatherised PP enclosure

The enclosure is industrial grade polypropylene in black, weatherised to meet IP44 standards, with a trapezoidal form factor so the SPA 1312 can also be used as a stage monitor. It is fitted with handles for lifting, measures 360 x 610 x 350 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 15.2 kg.

Transducers and coverage

The HF section is a 1 inch throat compression driver with a 1.75 inch voice coil; the LF section is a 12 inch woofer with a 2.5 inch voice coil, rated 300 W AES in the SPA Series literature. The crossover point is 1.5 kHz and the directivity is 90° horizontal by 50° vertical.

Direct and LMT inputs

SONODYNE gives the SPA 1312 direct and LMT inputs, through a twist-lock connector. On the rear, a selector is marked HIGH IMPEDANCE and DIRECT, and the label carries a HIGH IMPEDANCE MODE table for 100 V and 70 V and a DIRECT MODE table. The power taps are 300 W, 150 W, 75 W, 37.5 W at 100 V and 150 W, 75 W, 37.5 W, 18.8 W at 70 V; in direct use the speaker handles 400 W continuous, 800 W program and 1600 W peak.

Mounting options

3 x M8 inserts on top, 2 x M8 inserts on bottom and 1 x M8 insert at back, for flying. The bottom carries a twin 35 mm pole mount, and four plastic legs let the speaker stand on the floor.
