Product overview

The HARRISON MR3eq is a 3-band parametric EQ with high-pass filter in 500 Series format, originally developed for the HARRISON MR3 studio console and one of HARRISON's most popular EQ designs.

Introduced in 1981, the Music Recording 3 (MR3) console rapidly became a preferred tool for leading engineers and studios worldwide, helping to create iconic albums. The MR3eq is a high-performance analog EQ, crafted from decades of experience in equalizer and filter design: its circuit allows precision in surgical tasks or broad musical strokes with lots of band interaction for a rich and colourful sonic character. Like all HARRISON production tools, it delivers the vibe to inspire artists and the precision for engineers to excel.

Key features

  • The HARRISON sound in 500 Series format
  • Perfect for both precision EQ work and broad musical strokes
  • Three-band parametric EQ with +/-10 dB boost / cut range
  • High-frequency shelf (800 Hz - 15 kHz), 6 dB/octave, switchable to a 2nd-order bell
  • Mid band (400 Hz - 8 kHz) with continuously variable Q
  • Low-frequency shelf (40 - 800 Hz), switchable to a 2nd-order bell
  • Separate high-pass filter with 3 dB corner frequency
  • Separate IN switches for the EQ and HPF sections
  • Input overload LED
  • Compatible with 500 Series format chassis

3-band parametric EQ with HPF

The HI and LOW sections provide a 6 dB/octave shelving response with corner frequency and boost / cut on separate knobs. The bell button changes the response to a second-order bell with the classic HARRISON proportional Q, where the Q narrows as the boost increases; the frequency knob then sets the centre frequency and the boost / cut range remains +/-10 dB. The MID section offers a continuously variable Q from narrow to wide, with centre frequency and boost / cut on separate knobs.

High-pass filter

A separate high-pass filter section provides a 12 dB/octave slope with a 3 dB corner frequency, from 25 Hz to 3.1 kHz. Separate IN switches let you engage the filter and the EQ independently, so the MR3eq works equally well in tracking and mixdown.

HARRISON MR3eq: frequently asked questions

What do I need to use the MR3eq?

A 500 Series format rack (chassis). Fit the module with the rack's power off, using the panel fixing screws supplied with the rack.

What is proportional Q?

In bell mode the Q narrows as the boost increases: gentle boosts are broad and musical, larger boosts become more focused.

Can I use the filter without the EQ?

Yes. The HP filter and the EQ have separate IN switches.

Where can I buy the HARRISON MR3eq in India?

The HARRISON MR3eq is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
