Product overview
The MERGING DA8V3S is a high-quality 8-channel digital to analogue line output card for the MERGING HAPI Mk III audio mainframe, Standard version, with sample rates up to 192 kHz.
The DA8V3S gives HAPI Mk III eight mastering-grade line outputs. Its specifications include a dynamic range of 124 dB (126 dB A-weighted, typ.) and THD+N below -115 dB. The low phase noise oscillator circuitry contributes to the clarity and stereo imaging of analogue signals by minimising both jitter and wander, and the analogue mute circuitry protects against spurious transients during sample rate changes and power cycling 'clicks' and 'pops', which can damage speakers and the listener's ears. With a noise floor of less than -125 dB it provides analogue output quality for any monitoring system.
| Mastering‑grade line outputs | 8 |
| Dynamic range (A‑weighted, typ.) | 126 dB |
| THD+N at 1 kHz, 0 dBFS | -115 dB |
| Maximum sample rate | 192 kHz |
Key features
- Dynamic range of 126 dB (A-weighted, typ.)
- Low phase noise oscillator circuitry
- Auto-mute circuitry for 'no-pop' power cycling
- Digitally controlled trims for line-up procedures
- Maximum output level selectable in software: +24 dBu or +18 dBu
- 1 x 25-pin D-Sub connector
- Sample rates up to 192 kHz
Immersive monitoring
Eight mastering-grade line outputs suit an immersive speaker set-up powered by a MERGING ANUBIS running the Monitoring Mission: choose one card for 5.1.4, or two cards for up to 9.1.6.
Line-up and trims
The maximum output level of all channels is set to +24 dBu or +18 dBu in software. The output attenuation calibrates the outputs from 0 to -60 dB in 0.1 dB steps, each channel has its own trim in 0.1 dB steps with a polarity setting, and a mute switch silences all outputs. Slow (default, 9 samples) and sharp roll-off filters are available.
Clean signal path
The signal passes the digital output attenuation, the roll-off filter, the D/A converter, the analogue output level selection and the mute switch to the balanced analogue output on a DB-25 connector with the AES59 analogue pinout.

MERGING DA8V3S: frequently asked questions
How many DA8V3S cards do I need for immersive monitoring?
One card provides 8 outputs for 5.1.4; two cards in HAPI Mk III provide up to 9.1.6.
What is the difference between the DA8V3S and the DA8V3P?
The Standard DA8V3S supports sample rates up to 192 kHz. The Premium DA8V3P extends this to 384 kHz PCM, DXD and DSD up to DSD256, with a dynamic range of 128 dB (A-weighted, typ.).
Can the DA8V3S feed unbalanced inputs?
Yes: use only the hot (+) output and leave the cold (-) side unconnected; never short pin 3 or pin 2 to ground, as the outputs are symmetrical but not floating.
Which unit does the DA8V3S fit?
It is an extension card for the MERGING HAPI Mk III and fits either of its two slots; HAPI Mk III is ordered separately.
Where can I buy the MERGING DA8V3S in India?
The MERGING DA8V3S is available from Shivansh Electronics, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with delivery across India.
Workflow 1: Immersive monitoring 5.1.4
Mixing rooms with a 10-speaker immersive system.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| LINE OUT (DB‑25) | Active speakers via DB‑25 to XLR fan‑out |
| HAPI Mk III network port | MERGING ANUBIS or a computer |
Setup
- Fit one card for 5.1.4.
- Route the network stream to the D/A outputs.
- Trim each output and set its polarity.
- Choose the roll-off filter.
Tip: Two cards give up to 9.1.6.
Workflow 2: Stereo mastering monitoring
Mastering engineers.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| LINE OUT 1‑2 | Main monitors |
| LINE OUT 3‑8 | Alternative monitors or outboard |
Setup
- Set the maximum output level for the monitors (+24 or +18 dBu).
- Calibrate with the output attenuation in 0.1 dB steps.
- Route the program to outputs 1-2.
- Use the remaining outputs for other destinations.
Tip: Analogue mute circuitry protects the speakers at power cycling.
Workflow 3: Playback to an analogue console
Studios returning computer playback to a console.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| LINE OUT | Console line inputs |
| HAPI Mk III network port | Recording computer |
Setup
- Route the playback stream to the line outputs.
- Match the output level to the console.
- Check the levels.
- Save the preset.
Tip: Gain step 0.5 dB; trims in 0.1 dB steps.
Workflow 4: Feeding unbalanced inputs
Connecting to equipment with unbalanced inputs.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| LINE OUT hot (+) | Unbalanced input signal |
| Shield | Ground |
Setup
- Wire only the hot (+) output and the shield.
- Leave the cold (-) side unconnected.
- Never short pin 3 or pin 2 to ground.
- Adjust the level; the result is 6 dB lower.
Tip: The lower level suits sensitive unbalanced inputs.
Workflow 5: Stand-alone D/A converter
Converting AES or ADAT digital sources to analogue.
Connections
| Connect | To |
|---|---|
| HAPI Mk III AES or ADAT inputs | Digital source |
| LINE OUT | Analogue destination |
Setup
